The Calgary Flames have invited former Vernon Vipers
forward Rod Pelley to training camp.
Pelley has spent the past fourt seasons as captain with the American Hockey League (AHL) Albany Devils.
On January 23 2017 the first 1,500 fans at the Albany Devils home game received a Rod Pelley bobblehead before the game.

After four years at Ohio State University Pelley signed a two year entry-level contract with the New Jersey Devils. Pelley would spend five years (2006-2011) with the New Jersey Devils and Lowell Devils before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks in 2011. Pelley has played five seasons in the NHL with New Jersey & Anaheim. In 71 games last season with the Devils Pelley collected (6-goals-7-assists-13-points). Pelley will enter this season his fourth season as captain with Albany.
Pelley played parts of one season in Vernon (2001-2002) On January 10th 2001 the Vipers traded Mark Nelson & Tyler Scofield to Prince George for Josh Ciocco, Rod Pelley & Dan Rossi. Pelley played in 19 regular season games with the Vipers collecting (10-goals-8-assists-18-points).

TRAINING CAMP ROSTER AND SCHEDULE RELEASED

The Flames open their 2017 training camp with fitness testing and medicals at the Canadian Sport Institute at WinSport on Thursday, September 14th starting at 7:00 a.m. with media availability beginning at 10:00 a.m. (approximately). The first on-ice sessions are scheduled for Friday, September 15th starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome. All on-ice sessions are open for viewing to the public.
The Flames will play seven preseason games (4 home and 3 away) in preparation for the start of the 2017-18 season. The first game(s) will see the Flames take on the Edmonton Oilers in a split-squad matchup on Monday, September 18th at the Scotiabank Saddledome and in Edmonton at Rogers Place. Calgary opens up the 2017-18 regular season at Rogers Place as they visit the Oilers on Wednesday, October 4th.
Media are welcome to attend all on-ice sessions. Players will be available upon request following the conclusion of each training day.
