Mariners Re-Sign Vipers Alumni McNicholas:

The ECHL Maine Mariners have re-signed former Vernon Vipers forward
Michael McNicholas.

McNicholas has played the past two seasons with the Mariners. In 60 games last season McNicholas collected (11-goals-27-assists-38-points).

McNicholas spent fours years at the University of New Hampshire before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Indy Fuel March 6th 2018. 

McNicholas played one season in Vernon (2013-14). The Vipers traded Aaron Hadley to Nanaimo January 10th 2013 for future considerations (Michael McNicholas & Jordan Klimek). In 56 games with the Vipers McNicholas collected (23-goals-46-assists-69-points). 

McNicholas scored one of the biggest goals in recent Vipers history, scoring the overtime winning goal in Game 7 of the Interior division finals vs Penticton in 2014.

Fourteen years ago today (November 28th 2006) Vernon Vipers forward Andrew


Coburn scored three goals and added three assists in a six point night in a 8-4 victory over the visiting Trail Smoke Eaters in front of 1,536 fans at the Vernon Multiplex. Vernon outshot Trail 42-34 Nick Olynyk made 30 saves in the win, while Devan Hartigan & Cole Anderson combined for 34 saves in the loss.

Forwards Ryley Appelt, Logan Lorenz & defenceman Liam Cavan have been removed from the Vernon Vipers reserve roster and added to the Vernon Vipers active roster. Appelt, Lorenz & Cavan haven't played a game this season.

Forward Jordan Tonelli is the lone player left on the Vernon Vipers reserve roster. Tonelli hasn't played a game this season. 

The Vernon Vipers active roster now sits at 25 players.

The Vernon Vipers have a new feature on their twitter account. The Vipers will be showing weekly legendary plays/highlight's from the past. Eight years ago today (November 18th 2012) Vernon Vipers forward Adam


Tambellini scored three goals and added three assists for a six point afternoon in a 7-5 victory over the Coquitlam Express in front of 530 fans at Poirier Sports and Leisure Centre. Vernon outshot Coquitlam 44-19 Austin Smith made 14 saves in the win, while Daniel Urbani & Cole Huggins combined for 37 saves in the loss.

Quillan Scores OT Winner, Vees Capture Cup:

18 year old goaltender Kobe Grant is no longer listed on the Vernon Vipers


roster. 

The Vipers currently have 22 players listed on their active roster, with four players listed on their reserve roster.

Grant was an affiliated player with the Vipers last season playing in one game posting a 6.00 GAA. In 5 pre-season games this year at the Okanagan Cup, Grant went 1-4 allowing 18 goals in five games.

Okanagan Cup Semifinal: Vernon 2 West Kelowna 0

JoJo Tanaka-Campbell's goal at 10:10 of the 1st period held up as the game winner, while Cameron MacDonald added some late insurance with an empty net goal at 19:08 giving the Vipers a 2-0 lead. Koan MacInnes stopped all 31 shots for the win/shutout while Johnny Derrick made 25 saves in the loss. With the win the Vipers advance to the Okanagan Cup final tomorrow night vs the Penticton Vees.

Let's take a look at the West Kelowna Warriors:

The 7-4-0-1 West Kelowna Warriors are coming off a 3-1 victory over the visiting Salmon Arm Silverbacks November 7th. The Warriors swept last weekend's home & home series with the Gorillas. Tonight is the fifth pre-season meeting of the year vs Vernon with the Tribe winning all previous four games over the Vipers. The last time these two teams met, the Warriors won 4-3 in overtime October 24th at Royal Le Page Place. Tyler Cristall has returned from the USHL to re-join the Warriors, while Matthew Stienburg is out for the remainder of 2020 with an injury. West Kelowna has won four straight overall and won back to back games on home ice. The winner of tonight's semifinal will face the winner of the other semifinal between the Penticton Vees & Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the Okanagan Cup final Saturday.
