Rochester Americans Sign Vipers Alumni Jandric:

The American Hockey League Rochester Americans have

signed 
former Vernon Vipers defenceman Chris Jandric.

Jandric played the past two seasons at the University of North Dakota. In 39 games this season, Jandric collected (4-goals-29-assists-33-points). Jandric was named to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's All-Conference team.

Jandric committed to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks for the 2018-19 season. Jandric spent three years at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks from 2018-2021 before transferring to the University of North Dakota for the 2021-22 season. 

Jandric attended the Arizona Coyotes Development Camp in July 2022.

Jandric played two seasons in Vernon from 2016-2018. In 108 games with the Vipers, Jandric collected (6-goals-45-assists-51-points).

Lindsay has spent the past sixteen seasons as the Florida Panthers radio color commentator, radio color analyst and television analyst. 

Lindsay was drafted 103rd overall in Round 5 at the 1991 NHL Draft by the Quebec Nordiques. Lindsay played thirteen seasons in the NHL with Quebec, Florida, Calgary, San Jose, Montreal and Atlanta before retiring from professional hockey in 2007.

Lindsay played one season in Vernon with the 1988-89 Vernon Lakers.

The Vernon Lakers were around from 1980-1995 before changing their name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995.

Iowa Heartlanders Release Former Viper Goaltender Hanson:

The ECHL Iowa Heartlanders have released former Vernon Vipers

goaltender Darion Hanson.

Hanson has split this season between the ECHL Iowa Heartlanders, ECHL Savannah Ghost Pirates & the American Hockey League Cleveland Monsters. In 8 games with Iowa, Hanson is 2-5 with a 5.05 GAA. 

Hanson started the 2022-23 season with the ECHL Savannah Ghost Pirates. The Ghost Pirates signed Hanson August 9th 2022 before trading Hanson to the Iowa Heartlanders February 1st 2023. The American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters signed Hanson to a professional tryout (PTO) contract November 3rd 2022. The Monsters returned Hanson to the ECHL November 8th 2022. The Monsters signed Hanson to a professional tryout (PTO) contract for a second time January 13th 2023 before returning Hanson to the ECHL January 19th 2023.

Hanson played the 2021-22 season at the University of Conneticut, before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Lehigh Valley Phantoms March 29th 2022. Hanson didn’t play a game with the Phantoms was released April 8th 2022. The ECHL Reading Royals signed Hanson April 8th 2022. The Royals loaned Hanson to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms April 9th 2022. Hanson never played a game with the Phantoms.

In 35 games at the University of Conneticut, Hanson went 20-15 with a 2.24 GAA Hanson become the first Huskies goaltender to record 20 wins in a season, setting a new school record. 

Hanson was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award in 2020 was invited to the Philadelphia Flyers development camp in 2017, Toronto Maple Leafs development camp in 2018 and the Buffalo Sabres development camp in 2019.

Hanson played parts of one season in Vernon with the 2016-17 Vernon Vipers. The Vipers acquired Hanson from the United States Hockey League Youngstown Phantoms November 18th 2016. No details on the trade were released. In 21 games with the Vipers, Hanson went 14-4 with 2 shutouts and a 1.84 GAA

Jacksonville Icemen Place Ex Vernon Viper Forward Martin On Reserve:

Craig Martin on reserve.

Martin started the 2022-23 season with HC Grotto before signing with the Icemen December 13th 2022. In 32 games with the Icemen, Martin has (13-goals-21-assists-34-points).

HC Grotto is an ice hockey team playing in the Slovak Extraliga. They play in the city of PreÅ¡ov, Slovakia. In 20 games, Martin collected (4-goals-5-assists-9-points). HC Grotto signed Martin June 6th 2022. 

Martin played the past three seasons with the ECHL Jacksonville Icemen before going to Slovakia for the 2022-23 season.

Martin played four seasons at Quinnipiac University from 2015-2019 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Springfield Thunderbirds April 2nd 2019. Martin didn't play a game with the Thunderbirds, was released, later signing with the ECHL Adirondak Thunder July 8th 2019. The Thunder traded Martin to Jacksonville November 26th 2019.

Terriers Break Vernon Lakers/Centennial Cup Record:

The Portage Terriers broke the Vernon Lakers/Centennial Cup record

scoring twelve goals in a 12-2 victory over the Kam River Fighting Walleye May 13th 2023. The Centennial Cup record for most goals scored in one game was 11 held by the Vernon Lakers & six other teams (Orillia Travelways, New Westminster Royals, Olds Grizzlys, Melfort Mustangs, Brockville Braves & Brooks Bandits (twice). The Vernon Lakers scored eleven goals in a 11-5 win over the Nipawin Hawks at the 1990 Centennial Cup.

Americans Activate Former Vernon Viper Finlay From Reserve:

Finlay is in his first season with the ECHL Allen Americans. The Americans signed Finlay September 27th 2022. In 54 games, Finlay has (33-goals-37-assists-70-points).

On April 12th 2023 Finlay was named to the ECHL 2022-23 All-Rookie team.

Finlay played the past two seasons in Europe playing with four different teams (KOVEE, HK Nitra, Tingsryds AIF & EHC Freiburg) from 2020-2022.

Finlay played four years at Denver University from 2016-2020 before signing his first professional contract with Koovee September 7th 2020. Koovee is a Finnish ice hockey team that plays in the Mestis, second-tier league where the team is based in Tampere, Finland.

Vipers Alumni Williamson Claims Ice Bears Charitable Foundation Community Service Award:

 Vernon Vipers forward/captain Jagger Williamson is 
the first winner of the Knoxville Ice Bears Charitable Foundation Community Service Award.

Williamson is in his first season with the Southern Professional Hockey League Knoxville Ice Bears. In 56 games, Williamson has (11-goals-31-assists-42-points). The Ice Bears signed Williamson this past summer.

Williamson played the past two seasons with the Federal Prospects Hockey League Columbus River Dragons. Williamson broke his leg in his first ever game with the River Dragons, missing the entire 2019-20 season. In 31 games last season, Williamson collected (14-goals-19-assists-33-points).

Williamson committed to Michigan Tech University for the 2019-20 season, but ended up signing a professional contract with the Federal Prospects Hockey League Columbus River Dragons for the 2019-20 season.

Williamson played five seasons in Vernon from 2014-2019. In 233 games with the Vipers, Williamson collected (54-goals-119-assists-173-points).

Williamson and former Vernon Lakers/Vernon Vipers forward Garth Gartner hold the franchise record for most games played with 233 games each. Gartner played four seasons in Vernon from 1994-1998 with the Vernon Lakers & Vernon Vipers.

The ECHL Worcester Railers have activated former Vernon Vipers forward

Liam Coughlin from Injured Reserve.

Coughlin is in his second season with the Railers. Coughlin signed with the Railers as a free agent August 3rd 2021. In 52 games, Coughlin has (10-goals-12-assists-22-points).

Coughlin played the 2021-22 season with the ECHL Worcester Railers. During the 2021-22 season Coughlin was called up to the American Hockey League, playing with the Bridgeport Islanders, Springfield Thunderbirds & Providence Bruins before being returned to the ECHL.

The Penticton Vees set a franchise and league

record on Friday with their 18th Interior Conference Championship defeating the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 7-4 in Game 5 to win the Interior Conference Championship in five games. The Vees will advance to the BCHL League Finals vs the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

With the win on Friday Penticton passes Vernon for most Interior Conference Championships in league history with 18

Last year Penticton passed Vernon for most BCHL League Championships. Prior to last season Vernon & Penticton had 12 League Championships until the Vees won their 13th last season over Nanaimo.

Vipers Alumni Finlay Named To ECHL All-Rookie Team:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Liam Finlay is one of six players

named to the ECHL 2022-23 All-Rookie team.

Finlay is in his first season with the ECHL Allen Americans. The Americans signed Finlay September 27th 2022. In 54 games, Finlay has (33-goals-37-assists-70-points).

Finlay played the past two seasons in Europe playing with four different teams (KOVEE, HK Nitra, Tingsryds AIF & EHC Freiburg) from 2020-2022.

Finlay played four years at Denver University from 2016-2020 before signing his first professional contract with Koovee September 7th 2020. Koovee is a Finnish ice hockey team that plays in the Mestis, second-tier league where the team is based in Tampere, Finland. 

Finlay attended the Vancouver Canucks development camp in July 2019.

Finlay played parts of two seasons in Vernon (2014-2016) after coming over in a trade with the Penticton Vees. The Vipers traded the Junior A playing rights of Dakota Conroy & future considerations October 28th 2014 to the Penticton Vees for Liam Finlay. In 96 games with the Vipers, Finlay collected (39-goals-69-assists-109-points).

Bridgeport Islanders Recall Former Viper Forward Lambert From Worcester Railers:

The American Hockey League Bridgeport Islanders have recalled

former Vernon Vipers forward Jimmy Lambert from the ECHL Worcester Railers.

Lambert has split this season with the ECHL Worcester Railers & American Hockey League Bridgeport Islanders. Lambert is in his first season with the Railers & Islanders. 

In 25 games with the Railers, Lambert has (11-goals-13-assists-24-points). In 37 games with the Islanders, Lambert has (1-goal-8-assists-9-points).

Lambert played the past four seasons at the University of Michigan from 2018-2022 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Bridgeport Islanders. The Islanders signed Lambert April 18th 2022 on an amateur tryout agreement (ATO) before signing Lambert to a professional contract April 19th 2022. 

Lambert attended the Calgary Flames development camp in 2018 & New York Islanders development camp in 2019.

Lambert played three seasons in Vernon from 2015-2018. In 156 games with the Vipers, Lambert collected (57-goals-85-assists-142-points).
