Ex Viper Goaltender Shortridge Finishes Season Off Strong With Heat:

Former Vernon Vipers goaltender finished off the 2021-22 season with strong

numbers with the American Hockey League Stockton Heat. Shortridge made 35 saves with the Heat in a 2-1 overtime loss to Manitoba April 29th 2021 in the final game of the season. Shortridge went 1-0-1 in three games posting a 1.58 GAA with Stockton this season. Shortridge stopped 79 of 83 shots in those three games. The Heat assigned Shortridge May 1st 2021 to the ECHL Kansas City Mavericks after the Heat's season ended.

Shortridge is in his first season with the American Hockey League Stockton Heat & ECHL Kansas City Mavericks. In 13 games this season with Kansas City, Shortridge is 7-4-1 with one shutout and a 2.74 GAA

Shortridge become a free agent this year after the San Jose Sharks didn't offer him a qualifying contract in October 2020. The American Hockey League Stockton Heat signed Shortridge to a two-way AHL/ECHL contract December 5th 2020. The Heat assigned Shortridge to the ECHL Kansas City Mavericks December 5th 2020.

defenceman Sam Duerr 159th overall in Round 10 in Phase 2 of the USHL Draft.

Former Vernon Vipers forward Lanny Gare won his second German hockey league championship.

Gare is in his sixth season with the Ver Selb Wolves. 

After four seasons at the University of New Hampshire Gare played three seasons in the UHL, American Hockey League & ECHL before playing in Denmark & now Germany. 

Gare played two seasons in Vernon (1997-1999). In 117 games with the Vipers, Gare collected (67-goals-107-assists-174-points).

Gare and the 1998-99 Vernon Vipers were selected into the BC Hockey Hall of Fame in July 2016. Gare's father played two seasons in Vernon (1970-1972) with the Vernon Essos & was Head Coach for three seasons (1986-1989) with the Vernon Lakers.

Oilers GM Ken Holland chosen to Hockey Canada Olympic management team | Edmonton Sun

Holland is in his second year as General Manager & President of Hockey Operations of the Edmonton Oilers. Holland spent the previous thirty three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings.

Holland played one season in Vernon with the 1973-74 Vernon Vikings.

Holland was drafted 188th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in Round 12 of the 1975 NHL Draft. Holland never played a game with the Maple Leafs, played one game with the 1980-81 Hartford Whalers and three games with the 1983-84 Detroit Red Wings before retiring in 1985.

Rapid City Rush Place Vipers Alumni On Reserve:

The ECHL Rapid City Rush have placed former Vernon Vipers

defenceman Johnny Coughlin on reserve.

ECHL Transactions - April 2

Coughlin is in his first season with the ECHL Rapid City Rush. The Rush signed Coughlin February 13th 2021. In 22 games this season, Coughlin has (2-goals-2-assists-4-points).

Coughlin was suppose to start the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones after re-signing with the team August 12th 2020. The Cyclones announced they opt out for the 2020-21 season as part of the ECHL's COVID-19 Voluntary Suspension Policy. The Cyclones plan to return to play for the 2021-22 season.

Coughlin started the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets after signing a professional contract with the team January 27th 2021. Coughlin was added to the Komets training camp roster January 29th 2021 but never played a game before being released February 10th 2021.

Coughlin played last year with the ECHL Maine Mariners, Norfolk Admirals and Cincinnati Cyclones. Coughlin started the 2019-20 season with the Maine Mariners before being traded to Norfolk October 16th 2019 and then traded to Cincinnati February 20th 2020.

Coughlin played four years at the College of Holly Cross before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Maine Mariners March 15th 2019.

Coughlin played one season in Vernon with the 2014-15 Vernon Vipers. In 55 games with the Vipers, Coughlin collected (3-goals-15-assists-18-points).

Iowa Wild Recall Former Viper Maser From Americans:

The American Hockey League Iowa Wild have recalled former Vernon

Vipers forward Josh Maser from the ECHL Allen Americans.

Maser is in his first season with the Wild & Americans. In 6 games with the Wild, Maser has (1-goal-0-assists-1-point) & in 22 games with the Americans, Maser has (1-goal-1-assist-2-points).

Maser played the past four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Prince George Cougars before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Iowa Wild July 22nd 2020.

Maser attended the Vernon Vipers training camp in August 2016 before leaving camp for the Western Hockey League Prince Albert Raiders training camp. The Raiders traded Maser to the Prince George Cougars October 18th 2016.

Icemen Place Vipers Alumni Martin On Reserve:

The ECHL Jacksonville Icemen have placed former Vernon Vipers forward Craig

Martin on reserve.

Martin is in his second season with the ECHL Jacksonville Icemen. In 32 games this season, Martin has (7-goals-3-assists-10-points).

Martin started the 2019-20 season with the ECHL Adirondak Thunder before being traded to Jacksonville November 26th 2019.

Martin played four years at Quinnipiac University before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Springfield Thunderbirds April 2nd 2019. Martin didn't play a game with the Thunderbirds was released before signing with the ECHL Adirondak Thunder July 8th 2019.

Martin played parts of two seasons in Vernon (2012-2014). The Vipers traded Martin and future considerations to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs October 1st 2013 for Jared Wilson. In 46 games with the Vipers, Martin collected (10-goals-13-assists-23-points).
