West Kelowna Warriors forward Porter Dawson shows off some great dangles, scoring his first career BCHL goal in a 3-2 loss to the Vernon Vipers Friday.

The West Kelowna Warriors jumped out to an early 1-0 1st period lead on a goal from Tyler Cristall at 3:03 The Warriors jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a 2nd period goal from Porter Dawson at 1:41. Desmond Johnson & Nicholas Kent tied the game with two second period goals, fifteen seconds apart. Cameron MacDonald scored the game winner at 7:08 of the 3rd period for the 3-2 victory. Vernon outshot West Kelowna 25-17 Roan Clarke made 15 saves in the win, while Zachary Bennett made 22 saves in the loss.

Ex Viper Coughlin Placed On ECHL Commissioner's Exempt List:

Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Johnny Coughlin has been

placed on the ECHL commissioner's exempt list.

Here is the press release from the ECHL website,


Coughlin is in his first season with the ECHL Rapid City Rush. The Rush signed Coughlin February 13th 2021. In 19 games this season with the Rush, Coughlin has (2-goals-1-assist-3-points).

Coughlin was suppose to start the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones after re-signing with the team August 12th 2020. The Cyclones announced they opt out of the 2020-21 season as part of the ECHL's COVID-19 Voluntary Suspension policy. The Cyclones plan to return to play for the 2021-22 season. Coughlin had two goals in 9 games with the Cyclones last year.

Coughlin started the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets after signing a professional contract with the team January 27th 2021. Coughlin was added to the Komets training camp roster January 29th 2021 but never played a game before being released February 10th 2021.

Coughlin played last year with the ECHL Maine Mariners, Norfolk Admirals and Cincinnati Cyclones. Coughlin started the 2019-20 season with the Mariners was traded to Norfolk October 16th 2019 before being traded to Cincinnati February 20th 2020.

Coughlin played four years at the College of Holly Cross before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Maine Mariners March 15th 2019.

Coughlin played one season in Vernon (2014-15) In 55 games with the Vipers, Coughlin collected (3-goals-15-assists-18-points).

Salmon Arm 3 Vernon 1

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks opened the scoring and played with the lead in all three periods. Griffen Barr got the Vipers to within a goal late in the 2nd period before Drew Bennett added an empty netter in the 3rd giving Salmon Arm a 3-1 victory snapping Vernon's four game winning streak. Vernon outshot Salmon Arm 36-29 Owen Say made 35 saves in the win, while James Porter Jr made 26 saves in the loss.

Vernon 7 Salmon Arm 5

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks blew a 2-0 & 3-2 1st period leads and a 4-3 3rd period lead as the Vernon Vipers come from behind to pull out the 7-5 victory. Vernon outshot Salmon Arm 36-34 Roan Clarke made 29 saves in the win, while Liam Vanderkooi made 29 saves in the loss.
