Holick spent one season as an Associate Coach with the Kamloops Blazers. The Blazers signed Holick August 12th 2021. Prior to joining the Blazers, Holick spent the past three seasons as Head Coach of the Yale Hockey Academy Prep school U18 team. 


Holick played parts of four seasons in the Western Hockey League with Saskatoon & New Westminster also coached in the Western Hockey League for seven seasons with Kootenay & Prince George. Holick retired from professional hockey in 1994 after playing his final year of professional hockey in the CHL with the Dallas Freeze. Holick got into coaching in 1994 joining the Penticton Panthers during the 1994-95 season as an Assistant Coach. Holick has been coaching the past twenty six seasons coaching with nine different teams. 

Holick was Head Coach/GM of the 2006-07 Vernon Vipers. Holick left the Vipers in 2007 a week before training camp started for the Western Hockey League Kootenay Ice.

Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team open the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup tournament Sunday vs Switzerland.


Salmond is Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team senior vice-president. Salmond has been involved with Team Canada from 2001-2022.


Salmond played parts of two years in Vernon (1988-1990) before being traded to the Kelowna Spartans during the 1989-90 season. In 52 games with the Vernon Lakers, Salmond collected (7-goals-26-assists-33-points). Salmond played in the BCJHL with Vernon, Kelowna, Bellingham & Merritt.

Mallette is a Rockets Alumni (1996-1999) is in his eighth season with the Rockets. Mallette spent six seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Rockets from 2014-2020 before being named Head Coach March 2nd 2020.

Mallette played ten seasons in the ECHL, UHL, CHL & IHL with Louisiana, Baton Rouge, Ashville, Elmira, Colorado, Youngstown, Laredo & Flint from 2000-2009 before retiring from professional hockey in 2009. Mallette spent three seasons in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League as an Assistant Coach & Head Coach of the North Okanagan Knights.

Komets Add Ex Viper Twins To Teams Protected List:

The ECHL announced their protected lists as submitted by each of

its member teams. The ECHL Fort Wayne Komets have twenty six players listed on their protected list. Two of those twenty six players, are former Vernon Vipers forwards/twins Connor & Kellen Jones.

Connor Jones played the 2021-22 season with the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets. The Komets signed Jones August 30th 2021. In 52 games last season, Jones collected (10-goals-29-assists-39-points). 


Before joining the Komets last season, Jones played the 2020-21 season in Sweden with Vasterviks IK, a professional hockey team from Vasterviks, Sweden that play in the Swedish Ice Hockey League. 


Jones played in the ECHL & American Hockey League from 2014-2019 before playing hockey in Sweden in 2019.

Jones played four years at Quinnipiac University from 2010-2014 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Oklahoma City Barons April 3rd 2014. Jones signed a one year-two way contract with the New York Islanders February 22nd 2017. Jones made his NHL/Islanders debut April 1st 2017 vs the Buffalo Sabres. Steel from Vernon, BC played three seasons at Brown University from 2013-2016 before leaving school and signing his first professional contract in 2016 with the Southern Professional Hockey League Huntsville Havoc. Steel played one season with the Havoc before retiring from professional hockey after the 2016-17 season.

Steel attended the Vernon Vipers 2008 Spring Camp, 2009 & 2010 Training Camps, was released after playing a few exhibition games in 2010. Steel signed with the Merritt Centennials in 2010 and played three seasons in Merritt before committing to Brown University for the 2013-14 season.

Pierce has spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach with the Western Hockey League Edmonton Oil Kings.

Pierce spent five seasons playing at Royal Military College from 2004-2009 before returning to the BCHL in 2009 as an Assistant Coach & Head Coach with the Merritt Centennials. Pierce spent six seasons as Head Coach-GM of the Merritt Centennials from 2009-2015. Pierce was named BCHL Interior Conference Coach of the year in 2013. Pierce was an assistant coach with Canada’s national men’s under-17 team in 2016 & an assistant coach for Team Canada/Team Red at the 2017 World Under 17 Hockey Challenge. Pierce was an assistant coach for Canada’s National Sledge Team at the 2018 Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang. Dodginghorse was elected as councillor with the Tsuut’ina Nation in 2008. He is the current Portfolio holder for companies, working along side Tsuut’ina Contracting, Sarcee Developments, Sarcee Gravel and the Emergency Response Team to name a few.

Dodginghorse played two seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen before signing his first professional contract in 1999 with the ECHL Johnstown Chiefs. Dodginghorse played two seasons in the ECHL with the Johnstown Chiefs & Pensacola Ice Pilots before retiring from professional hockey in 2001.

Coughlin split the 2021-22 season between the ECHL & American Hockey League. Coughlin played with the ECHL Worcester Railers, American Hockey League Bridgeport Islanders, Springfield Thunderbirds & Providence Bruins. Coughlin was in his first season with the Worcester Railers after signing as a free agent August 3rd 2021. In 45 games with the Railers last season, Coughlin collected (9-goals-24-assists-33-points).


Coughlin signed a professional tryout contract with the American Hockey League Bridgeport Islanders December 28th 2021 was released after going pointless in 2 games with the Islanders. The Railers loaned Coughlin to the American Hockey League Springfield Thunderbirds January 6th 2022 was returned to the ECHL after one assist in 2 games with the Thunderbirds. The American Hockey League Providence Bruins signed Coughlin to a professional tryout contract April 29th 2022

Coughlin didn't play professional hockey during the 2020-21 season. Coughlin last played professional hockey during the 2019-20 season, splitting the season between the American Hockey League Rockford IceHogs & ECHL Indy Fuel. 

Coughlin played four seasons at Vermont University from 2015-2019 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Rockford IceHogs May 19th 2019.

Coughlin was drafted 130th overall by the Edmonton Oilers in Round 5 at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Coughlin didn't play a game with the Oilers, was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks July 6th 2015. Coughlin has yet to play a game with the Blackhawks.

After four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans, Ryan was drafted 8th overall by the Montreal Canadians in Round 1 of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Ryan signed his first professional contract in 1996 with the American Hockey League Fredericton Canadiens. Ryan spent parts of seven seasons in the NHL, AHL, IHL, WCHL, ECHL & ACHL from 1997-2003 with ten different teams (Montreal, Fredericton, Utah, Long Beach, St. John's, Colorado, Hershey, Idaho, Cincinnati & Orlando).

Steelheads Add Former Viper Forward Fowlie To Teams Protected List:

The ECHL Idaho Steelheads signed Fowlie September 3rtd 2020. Fowlie never played a game with the Steelheads as the team opt out of the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19. Instead Fowlie went to Romania for the 2020-21 season to play with the ASC Brasov Wolves.


Fowlie spent the 2021-22 season with Ferencvarosi TC. In 39 games last season, Fowlie collected (21-goals-17-assists-38-points). Ferencvarosi TC is a professional hockey team from Hungary.


Fowlie played five seasons at the University of Regina from 2013-2018 before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Jacksonville Icemen February 15th 2018. Fowlie played two seasons in Jacksonville before heading to Romania in 2019 to play with the ASC Brasov Wolves where he spent seasons before going to Hungary. 

Fowlie played parts of three seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Everett Silvertips before being released in 2012. The Vernon Vipers signed Fowlie October 16th 2012. Fowlie played three games with the Vipers before leaving the team and signing with the Western Hockey League Kelowna Rockets October 22nd 2012. Swetlikoff was drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes, played two and a half seasons with his hometown Kelowna Rockets before being traded to Everett August 25th 2021.

Swetlikoff played a season and a half in Vernon from 2017-2018. Swetlikoff left the Vipers December 18th 2018 for the Western Hockey League Kelowna Rockets. Orlando Solar Bears Add Ex Vernon Viper Taylor To Teams Protected List:

The ECHL announced their protected lists as submitted by each of

its member teams. The ECHL Orlando Solar Bears have twenty five players listed on their protected list. One of those twenty five players, is former Vernon Vipers goaltender Ty Taylor.

Taylor started the 2021-22 season at Grant MacEwan University before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Orlando Solar Bears February 24th 2022. In 1 game last season with the Solar Bears, Taylor went 0-0 with a 2.33 GAA. The American Hockey League Syracuse Crunch signed Taylor March 13th 2022. Taylor didn’t play a game with the Crunch, before being released April 28th 2022.


Taylor played three seasons at the University of New Hampshire from 2018-2021 before transfering to Grant MacEwan University for the 2021-22 season, his final year of college hockey. In 13 games at Grant MacEwan University, Taylor went 1-11 with a 4.16 GAA 

Taylor was drafted 214th overall in Round 7 by the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.

Taylor played two seasons in Vernon from 2016-2018. This is Ferster's second stint in Victoria. Ferster was Head Coach of the Victoria Salsa from 2004-2006 and Head Coach of the 2006-07 Victoria Grizzlies. The Victoria Salsa changed their name to the Victoria Grizzlies in the summer of 2006. 

Ferster spent the past two seasons as Head Coach of the NCDC Philadelphia Hockey Club.

Ferster played two seasons at Sait (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) from 1991-1993 before signing his first professional contract in 1994 with HK Dragon Presov. The HC presov Penguins were a professional ice hockey team from Presov, Slovakia. Ferster played four seasons of professional hockey in Slovakia, England and Germany from 1994-1998 before retiring from professional hockey in 1998. Ferster got his first coaching job as an Assistant Coach with the 1999-2000 Trail Smoke Eaters. Ferster spent one season (2009-10) as Head Coach/GM of the KIJHL Revelstoke Grizzles, one season (2007-08) as Scout with the Colorado Avalanche and one season (2019-20) as Co-Coach of the SJHL Kindersley Klippers. Ferster spent eighteen seasons in the BCHL as an Assistant Coach, Head Coach/GM and Director of Hockey Operations with the Trail Smoke Eaters, Salmon Arm Silverbacks, Victoria Salsa/Victoria Grizzlies and West Kelowna Warriors.

Ferster played parts of one season in Vernon with the 1989-90 Vernon Lakers. In 28 games with the Lakers, Ferster collected (8-goals-11-assists-19-points).

The Vernon Lakers were around from 1980-1983 & 1984-1995 before changing their name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995.

Former Vernon Vipers forward Kellen Jones won the "Mr. Hustle" Award at the Fort

Jones played the 2021-22 season with the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets. The Komets signed Jones August 30th 2021. In 70 games last season, Jones collected (12-goals-47-assists-59-points).

Before joining the Komets last season, Jones played the 2020-21 season in Sweden with Vasterviks IK, a professional hockey team from Vasterviks, Sweden that play in the Swedish Ice Hockey League. 

Jones played in the ECHL & American Hockey League from 2014-2018 before playing in Sweden in 2018.

Jones played four years at Quinnipiac University from 2010-2014 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Oklahoma City Barons April 3rd 2014.

Holland has spent the past three seasons as President & General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers.


Holland started as an NHL Scout with the Detroit Red Wings in 1985. Holland was a Scout with the Red Wings from 1985-1987 before being named to Director of Amateur Scouting in 1987 until being named Assistant General Manager in 1994 then being named General Manager & Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations in 1997. Holland left the Red Wings in 2019 was named General Manager & President of Hockey Operations of the Edmonton Oilers May 7th 2019.

Holland was drafted 188th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in Round 12 of the 1975 NHL Draft. Holland never played a game with the Maple Leafs, played four games with the Hartford Whalers and Detroit Red Wings before retiring from professional hockey in 1985.

Holland played one season in Vernon with the 1973-74 Vernon Vikings.

The Vernon Vikings were around from 1973-1978 before changing their name to the Vernon Canadians in 1978.

Icemen Add Former Viper Martin To Teams Protected List:

The ECHL announced their protected lists as submitted by each of

its member teams. The ECHL Jacksonville Icemen have twenty three players listed on their protected list. One of those twenty three players, is former Vernon Vipers forward Craig Martin.

Martin has played the past three seasons with the ECHL Jacksonville Icemen. In 66 games last season, Martin collected (25-goals-35-assists-60-points).


The Icemen loaned Martin to the American Hockey League Charolotte Checkers January 3rd 2022. Martin went pointless in 3 games with the Checkers, was released and returned to the ECHL January 26th 2022.

Martin played four seasons at Quinnipiac University from 2015-2019 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Springfield Thunderbirds April 2nd 2019. Martin didn't play a game with the Thunderbirds, was released, later signing with the ECHL Adirondak Thunder July 8th 2019. The Thunder traded Martin to Jacksonville November 26th 2019.

Martin played parts of two seasons in Vernon from 2011-2013. The Vipers traded Martin and future considerations to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs October 1st 2013 for Jared Wilson. In 46 games with the Vipers, Martin collected (10-goals-13-assists-23-points). Martin played parts of four seasons in the BCHL with Vernon, Alberni Valley & Trail from 2011-2015.

Ex Viper Goaltender Hammond A Good Fit For Canucks?

 Former Vernon Vipers goaltender Andrew Hammond will become a free agent July 13th 2022. Is Hammond the guy they are looking for?

Hammond finished the 2021-22 season with the New Jersey Devils. Hammond spent the 2021-22 season with the American Hockey League Iowa Wild, Montreal Canadiens and the New Jersey Devils. 


Hammond started the 2021-22 season with the Minnesota Wild but was playing with the American Hockey League Iowa Wild, before being traded to the Montreal Canadiens February 12th 2022. The Canadiens traded Hammond to New Jersey March 21st 2022. Hammond spent the 2020-21 season on the Minnesota Wild's taxi squad.


The Devils are Hammond's ninth team since 2017. Hammond has also played for Ottawa, Colorado, Montreal, Minnesota & Buffalo. Prior to joining the Montreal Canadiens, Hammond hadn't played in the NHL since the 2017-18 season where he split the season between the Colorado Avalanche and American Hockey League Bellville Senators and San Antonio Rampage.

Hammond played four years at Bowling Green University from 2009-2013 before signing his first professional contract with the Ottawa Senators March 20th 2013.

Hammond made his NHL/Senators debut February 27th 2014 vs the Detroit Red Wings. Hammond recorded his first NHL victory February 18th 2015 making 42 saves in a 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Hammond is the only goaltender in NHL history to record 21 wins in his first 27 career NHL games.

Hammond played parts of two seasons in Vernon from 2007-2009. The Surrey Eagles traded Hammond to Vernon during the 2007-08 season. In 52 games with the Vipers, Hammond went 33-15-1 with 6 shutouts.
