Naylor was suspended during the 2021-22 season by Hockey Canada for breaking the Coach's Conduct Policy. Naylor spent four seasons with the Nanaimo Clippers from 2017-2022 as Head Coach/GM, Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations.


The Manitoba Junior Hockey League OCN Blizzard had hired Naylor in July 2022,  but Naylor was suspended by Hockey Canada for breaking the Coach's Conduct Policy and had not been reinstated at the time.

Naylor played three seasons in the COHL, CHL, SUHL, PHL, WCHL & NAL from 1993-1996 with six different teams, before retiring from professional hockey in 1996. Naylor was a Scout and been coaching since 2005. Naylor was Head Coach/GM of the PIJHL Delta Ice Hawks from 2016-2018 before joining the Nanaimo Clippers in 2017.

Naylor played parts of one season in Vernon with the 1989-90 Vernon Lakers. Naylor was traded to Vernon during the 1989-90 season. The Lakers were Naylor's third team in his final season of Junior hockey. In 20 games with the Lakers, Naylor collected (8-goals-27-assists-35-points).

The Vernon Lakers were around from 1980-1995 before changing their name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995.

The ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones have announced the

club’s Season-Ending Roster for the 2023-24 season. Former Vernon Vipers forward Zach Andrusiak is one of twenty players listed on the Cyclones Season-Ending Roster.

Andrusiak played the 2022-23 season with the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones. In 63 games last season, Andrusiak collected (32-goals-41-assists-73-points).

Andrusiak has spent the past two seasons with the Cyclones, signed a Professional Try-out (PTO) with the American Hockey League Manitoba Moose March 6th 2023 was released March 11th 2023 after going pointless in 2 games.

Andrusiak played three seasons in the Western Hockey League from 2016-2019 with Tri-Cities, Seattle, Prince Albert & Everett before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Idaho Steelheads August 8th 2019.

Growlers Add Former Viper Skirving To Teams Season-Ending Roster:

The ECHL Newfoundland Growlers have announced the club’s Season-

Ending Roster for the 2023-24 season.  Former Vernon Vipers forward Todd Skirving is one of six players listed on the Growlers Season-Ending Roster list.

Skirving has played the past four seasons with the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers. In 70 games last season, Skirving collected (31-goals-27-assists-58-points).

The Growlers loaned Skirving to the American Hockey League Toronto Marlies April 4th 2023. Skirving went pointless in 1 game with the Marlies before being released and returned to the ECHL..

Skirving played four years at Rochester Institute of Technology from 2013-2017 before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Orlando Solar Bears August 3rd 2017. Skirving spent the 2017-18 season playing with Orlando, Utah and Atlanta before signing a professional contract with the ECHL Newfoundland Growlers October 16th 2018.

Railers Add Vipers Alumni Jandric & Coughlin To Teams Season-Ending Roster:

The ECHL Worcester Railers have announced the club’s Season-Ending

Roster for the 2023-24 season. Former Vernon Vipers forwards Liam Coughlin and Steven Jandric are two of nineteen players listed on the Railers Season-Ending Roster list.

Coughlin has played the past two seasons with the Railers. Coughlin signed with the Railers as a free agent August 3rd 2021. In 52 games last season, Coughlin collected (10-goals-12-assists-22-points).

During the 2021-22 season Coughlin was called up to the American Hockey League, playing with the Bridgeport Islanders, Springfield Thunderbirds & Providence Bruins before being returned to the ECHL.

Coughlin played four seasons at Vermont University from 2015-2019 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Rockford IceHogs May 19th 2019.

Former Vernon Vipers Associate Coach Kris Mallette has been

named Assistant Coach with Hockey Canada’s Under-18 Team at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Mallette has spent the past four seasons as Head Coach of the Western Hockey League Kelowna Rockets. Mallette was an Assistant Coach with Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team last season.

Mallette is a Rockets Alumni (1996-1999) has been with the Rockets for the past ten seasons. Mallette spent six seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Rockets from 2014-2020 before being named Head Coach March 2nd 2020.

Appeal Date Set For Former Vernon Laker Chase In Wake Of Sexual Assault Conviction:

A date has been set for former Vernon Lakers defenceman/Assistant Coach Keith Chase's appeal of a sexual assault conviction.

Chase currently owns Chasers Bottle depot in Vernon.

Chase played parts of four seasons in Vernon from 1982-1985 before being traded to the Merritt Centennials during the 1984-85 season. Chase would return to Vernon after being traded back to the Lakers and played his final two seasons in Vernon from 1986-1988. After his junior hockey career ended, Chase joined the Vernon Lakers as an assistant coach from 1988-1991. In 94 games with the Lakers, Chase collected (3-goals-11-assists-12-points).

The Vernon Lakers were around from 1980-1995 before changing their name to the Vernon Vipers in 1995.

Finlay spent the 2022-23 season with ECHL Allen Americans. The Americans signed Finlay September 27th 2022. In 54 games, Finlay collected (33-goals-37-assists-70-points). On April 12th 2023 Finlay was named to the ECHL 2022-23 All-Rookie team.


Finlay played the previous two seasons in Europe playing with four different teams (KOVEE, HK Nitra, Tingsryds AIF & EHC Freiburg) from 2020-2022.

Finlay played four years at Denver University from 2016-2020 before signing his first professional contract with Koovee September 7th 2020. Koovee is a Finnish ice hockey team that plays in the Mestis, second-tier league where the team is based in Tampere, Finland. 

Finlay attended the Vancouver Canucks development camp in July 2019.

Finlay played parts of two seasons in Vernon (2014-2016) after coming over in a trade with the Penticton Vees. The Vipers traded the Junior A playing rights of Dakota Conroy & future considerations October 28th 2014 to the Penticton Vees for Liam Finlay. The ECHL Jacksonville Icemen have announced the club’s protected list for

the 2023-24 season. Former Vernon Vipers forward Craig Martin is one of twenty six players listed on the Icemen protected list.

Martin started the 2022-23 season with HC Grotto before signing with the Icemen December 13th 2022. In 32 games with the Icemen, Martin has (13-goals-21-assists-34-points).

HC Grotto is an ice hockey team playing in the Slovak Extraliga. They play in the city of PreÅ¡ov, Slovakia. In 20 games, Martin collected (4-goals-5-assists-9-points). HC Grotto signed Martin June 6th 2022. 

Martin played the past three seasons with the ECHL Jacksonville Icemen before going to Slovakia for the 2022-23 season.

Martin played four seasons at Quinnipiac University from 2015-2019 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Springfield Thunderbirds April 2nd 2019. Andrusiak played three seasons in the Western Hockey League from 2016-2019 with Tri-Cities, Seattle, Prince Albert & Everett before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Idaho Steelheads August 8th 2019.

Andrusiak started the 2015-16 season with the Western Hockey League Tri-City Americans, was released early into the 2015-16 season. The Vernon Vipers signed Andrusiak October 1st 2015. Five Vipers Alumni Attend NHL Development Camps:

Former Vernon Vipers defencemen Chris Jandric, Sam Duerr, Trey Taylor, Christian Felton and forward Alex Swetlikoff are attending NHL development camps.

Chris Jandric spent the 2022-23 season with the American Hockey League Rochester Americans, is attending the Buffalo Sabres development camp.

Jandric played two seasons in Vernon from 2016-2018. In 108 games with the Vipers, Jandric collected (6-goals-45-assists-51-points).

Sam Duerr spent the 2022-23 season at the University of Maine, is attending the Detroit Red Wings development camp.
