Vipers Alumni Tufto Awarded ECAC Hockey Player Of The Year:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Odeen Tufto has been named the ECAC Player

of the Year.

Tufto is in his fourth season at Quinnipiac University and first season as Bobcats captain. In 29 games this season, Tufto has (8-goals-39-assists-47-points).

Tufto played one season in Vernon with the 2015-16 Vernon Vipers. In 57 games with the Vipers, Tufto collected (25-goals-40-assists-65-points). Tufto left the Vipers after one season for the United States Hockey League. Tufto played one season in the USHL with three different teams (Fargo, Tri-City and Sioux City) before committing to Quinnipiac University for the 2017-18 season.

Grande Prairie Storm Not Leaving AJHL:

Rumours Wednesday were the BC Hockey League is leaving the Canadian Junior Hockey League and four teams from the Alberta Junior Hockey League were joining them. The Grande Prairie Storm were one of those teams reported to be leaving the Alberta Junior Hockey League but the Storm denied the rumours.

Fuel Activate Ex Viper Forward McNicholas From Reserve:

The ECHL Indy Fuel have activated former Vernon Vipers forward Michael

McNicholas from reserve. McNicholas was placed on reserve February 17th 2021.

McNicholas is in his first season with the Fuel. The Fuel is McNicholas's third team this season (Maine, Utah & Indy). The Fuel signed McNicholas January 13th 2021. In 21 games this year, McNicholas has (5-goals-10-assists-15-points).

McNicholas was suppose to start the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Maine Mariners after re-signing with the team July 6th 2020. The Mariners suspended the 2020-21 season under the league's policy for COVID-19. The Mariners are set to return to play for the 2021-22 season.

McNicholas spent the previous two seasons with the ECHL Maine Mariners, before signing with the Utah Grizzlies December 1st 2020. McNicholas had one goal in two games with the Grizzlies before being released December 29th 2020.

McNicholas played four years at the University of New Hampshire before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Indy Fuel March 6th 2018.

McNicholas played one season in Vernon (2013-14) The Vipers traded Aaron Hadley to the Nanaimo Clippers January 10th 2013 for future considerations (Michael McNicholas & Jordan Klimek). In 56 games with the Vipers, McNicholas collected (23-goals-46-assists-69-points).

McNicholas scored one of the biggest goals in recent Vernon Vipers history. McNicholas scored the overtime winning goal in Game 7 of the Interior division finals March 22nd 2014 vs the Penticton Vees.

AJHL Denies Reports Of Teams Leaving For The BCHL:

The Alberta Junior Hockey League has stated they are still a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and there is no plan for the creation of a new joint league.

Andrusiak was suppose to start the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Idaho Steelheads. The Steelheads re-signed Andrusiak September 10th 2020. Mallette and the Rockets open the 2020-21 season October 26th 2021 vs the Victoria Royals.

Mallette is entering his first full season as Head Coach of the Kelowna Rockets. Mallette a Rockets Alumni (1996-1999) spent the past five seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Rockets, was the teams Interim Head Coach last year before being named Head Coach March 2nd 2020.

Mallette was selected 62nd overall in Round 3 at the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. Mallette played ten years in the ECHL, UHL, CHL & IHL with Louisiana, Baton Rouge, Asheville, Elmira, Colorado, Youngstown, Laredo & Flint before getting into coaching. Mallette spent three seasons in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League from 2010-2013 as an Assistant Coach & Head Coach with the North Okanagan Knights.

Metropolit retired from professional hockey in 2017. Metropolit last played professional hockey with the HCB Foxes. Metropolit left the team for family reasons during the 2016-17 season.

The HCB Foxes or also known as Hockey Club Bolzano-Bozen Foxes is an Italian ice hockey team located in the city of Bolzano, South Tyrol, that plays in the Austrian Hockey League.

Metropolit was inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame in November 2019.

Metropolit was never drafted played eight seasons in the NHL with seven different teams (Washington, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, St. Louis, Boston, Philadelphia & Montreal) One season in the ECHL with Nashville, three seasons in the IHL with (Quebec, Atlanta & Grand Rapids), seven seasons overseas playing with five different teams (EV Zug, HC Lugano, SC Bern, Adler Mannheim & HC Bolzano) in three different leagues (NLA, DEL & EBEL). Metropolit was also captain for Team Canada at the 2014 Spengler Cup.

Metropolit played one season in Vernon (1994-95) with the Vernon Lakers. In 60 games with the Lakers, Metropolit lead the team in scoring with (43-goals-74-assists-117-points).

Vasterviks IK have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Connor Jones.

The Tyringe SoSS hockey team have acquired former Vernon Vipers

forward Logan Mick. Tyringe SoSS is a professional hockey team from Tyringe, Sweden.

Mick started the 2020-21 season with Surahammars IF, a professional hockey team from Surahammar, Sweden. In 11 games this season, Mick had (4-goals-2-assists-6-points).

Mick played last year with Amals Sportklubb, a professional hockey team based in Sweden.

Mick played parts of two seasons at Quinnipiac University before playing one season at the University of Lethbridge. 

Mick played two years in Vernon (2012-2014) before being traded to the Merritt Centennials May 29th 2014 as part of the future considerations from a trade January 3rd 2014. The Vipers traded Jason Bird & future considerations (Logan Mick) to Merritt January 3rd 2014 for Dylan Chanter. In 102 games with the Vipers, Mick collected (11-goals-12-assists-23-points).

Logan is the son of Vernon Lakers/Vernon Vipers alumni Troy Mick.

Rapid City Rush Sign Former Vipers Defenceman Coughlin:

The ECHL Rapid City Rush have signed former Vernon Vipers

defenceman Johnny Coughlin.

Coughlin was suppose to start the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones after re-signing with the team August 12th 2020. The Cyclones announced they opt out of the 2020-21 season as part of the ECHL's COVID-19 Voluntary Suspension policy. The Cyclones plan to return to play for the 2021-22 season. Coughlin had two goals in 9 games with the Cyclones last year.

Coughlin started the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Fort Wayne Komets after signing a professional contract with the team January 27th 2021. Coughlin was added to the Komets training camp roster January 29th 2021 but never played a game before being released February 10th 2021.

Coughlin played last year with the ECHL Maine Mariners, Norfolk Admirals and Cincinnati Cyclones. Coughlin started the 2019-20 season with the Mariners was traded to Norfolk October 16th 2019 before being traded to Cincinnati February 20th 2020.

Coughlin played four years at the College of Holly Cross before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Maine Mariners March 15th 2019.

Coughlin played one season in Vernon (2014-15) In 55 games with the Vipers, Coughlin collected (3-goals-15-assists-18-points).
