I watched tonight's game on Hockey TV
The Vipers dominated the 1st period outshooting the Centennials 23-9 but it was tied 1-1. Merritt played a much better 2nd period and gave the Snakes a scare, scoring the only goal of the period. In the 3rd it looked like the Centennials may hold on for the lead but Vernon scored back to back goals to take the lead before the Cents tied the game to force overtime. Both teams with chances in overtime. The Vipers score the only two goals of the shootout, escape with the 4-3 win. Vernon wins four straight games for the first time this season. John Hicks was the difference, making 58 saves. Give Merritt credit for giving the Vipers a good run.
The Vipers have been brutal on the road this season. Prior to tonight were 2-12 away from home and had lost ten straight road games.
Tonight was the first game of a seven game road trip. Will see what this Viper team is made of after they come home.
