Minnesota Wild Recall Vipers Alumni Hammond From American Hockey League:

The Minnesota Wild have recalled former Vernon Vipers goaltender

Andrew Hammond from the American Hockey League Iowa Wild.

Hammond is in his second season with the Iowa Wild/Minnesoa Wild after re-signing with the Minnesota Wild July 26th 2021. In 9 games with the Iowa Wild this season, Hammond is 6-1-3 with 3 shutouts and a 2.09 GAA

Hammond spent last season on the Minnesota Wild's taxi squad. The Wild is Hammond's seventh team since 2017. Hammond hasn't played a game in the NHL since the 2017-18 season where he split the season between the Colorado Avalanche and American Hockey League Bellville Senators and San Antonio Rampage.

This is Hammond's second stint with the Minnesota Wild after signing as a free agent with the Wild in 2018. Hammond spent the 2018-19 season with the American Hockey League Iowa Wild.

Hammond played four seasons at Bowling Green University from 2009-2013 before signing his first professional contract with the Ottawa Senators March 20th 2013.

Hammond made his NHL debut February 27th 2014 vs the Detroit Red Wings. Hammond recorded his first NHL victory February 18th 2015 making 42 saves in a 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Hammond is the only goaltender in NHL history to record 21 wins in his first 27 career NHL games.

Hammond played parts of two seasons in Vernon between 2007-2009 after coming over in a trade with the Surrey Eagles during the 2007-08 season. In 52 games with the Vipers, Hammond went 33-15-1 with 6 shutouts.
