Västerviks IK have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Darren Nowick.Västerviks IK is a Swedish ice hockey club, based in Västervik. The club, founded in 1971, had spent decades yo-yoing between the third and fourth tiers of Swedish ice hockey, Division 1 and Division 2, before securing promotion on March 31, 2016, to HockeyAllsvenskan (second tier) for the 2016–17 season.
Nowick split last season between the East Coast Hockey League Kansas City Mavericks & the American Hockey League Stockton Heat. In 22 games with the Mavericks, Nowick collected (6-goals-9-assists-15-points). In 25 games with the Heat, Nowick collected (2-goals-4-assists-6-points).
After playing four years at Northern Michigan University Nowick signed his first professional contract with the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Missouri Mavericks March 16 2016. Since 2016 Nowick spent the following three seasons playing in the American Hockey League & East Coast Hockey League with three different teams ( Missouri-Kansas City Mavericks, Stockton Heat and Bridgeport Sound Tigers).
Nowick played two years in Vernon (2010-2012) played in 109 games with the Vipers collected (36-goals-50-assists-86-points).

on Wednesday got Västerviks IK further a transatlantic signature on paper, then the American 26-year-old Center party Darren Nowick signed for games in the BAY 2018-19. Nowick comes from game in Stockton Heat in second AHL in the United States.
-Darren is a rightad center that can be used as a forward. He is good at skating and passing. Trained at the College and shown that he can produce points. We are pleased that a Darren on paper and hoping he will bring to the offense next season. In addition, he feels Kellen Jones since earlier which is only positive, says Emil georgsson, Västerviks IK's Sports Director.

Darren Nowick has played in the AHL for a total of 38 games over the last two seasons in the clubs the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Stockton Heat. In parallel, and previously played Darren in the Pro League ECHL in clubs Missouri Mavericks and Kansas City Mavericks.
Nowick also has a background in American college hockey with four years at Northern Michigan University in the NCAA and gaming in Vernon Vipers in Canadian junior league BCHL.
