Sharks Sign Vipers Alumni Zalewski:

The Kölner Haie (Cologne Sharks) have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Mike Zalewski.

The Kölner Haie (Cologne Sharks) are an ice hockey club based in Cologne, Germany that plays in the professional Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). The team was one of the founding members of the DEL.

Zalewski played last season with the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) Straubing Tigers. The Tigers are a professional men's ice hockey team, based in Straubing, Germany, which plays in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. 

Before heading to Germany Zalewski spent three seasons in the NHL & American Hockey League with the Vancouver Canucks and Utica Comets. Zalewski left his third year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) signing with the Vancouver Canucks March 17th 2014. Zalewski skated in his first NHL practice with the Canucks March 21, 2014 before making his NHL debut on Saturday April 12 2014 in a 5-2 loss in Edmonton. Zalewski picked up his first career NHL point (assist) in a 5-1 win over the visiting Calgary Flames the following night. Zalewski played just six games in the NHL with the Canucks. 

Zalewski played two season's in Vernon (2010-2012) In 106 regular season games with the Vipers Zalewski collected (50-goals-54-assists-104-points).

KEC obliges Mike Zalewski

The 25-year-old forward comes with DEL experience to Cologne.

The Cologne sharks greet the next new entry in the cadre: Forward Mike Zalewski changes from Straubing of tiger to the KEC.
18th August in New Hartford, New York, born Americans his first playing time graduated in the past season in Europe. In 51 DEL plays the tall forward (188 cms, 93 kg) registered 31 Scorerpunkte (14 gates, 17 presentations). Before spent Zalewski a good three years in the NHL organization Vancouver Canucks in whose tricot he celebrated in 2013/14 also his professional debut. Then in the following playing times the left shooter was used primarily for the Utica Comets in the AHL.

' Mike is a big centre which has already played a strong DEL season with 31 Scorerpunkten. At the age of 25 years he is not yet at the end of his development. Mike is high motivated and is glad very much to be now a part of the shark family ', says sharks-sports manager Mark Mahon to the obligation Zalewskis.

Mike Zalewski will carry the number 70 on the sharks.
