Komets Release Former Viper Coughlin:

The ECHL Fort Wayne Komets have released former Vernon Vipers

defenceman Johnny Coughlin.

Coughlin was in his first season with the Komets after signing as a free agent January 27th 2021. Coughlin was added to the Komets training camp roster January 29th 2021 but never played a game before being released.

Coughlin was suppose to start the 2020-21 season with the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones. The Cyclones re-signed Coughlin August 12th 2020. The Cyclones announced they opt out of the 2020-21 season as part of the ECHL's COVID-19 Voluntary Suspension policy. The Cyclones plan to return to play for the 2021-22 season. Coughlin had two goals in 9 games with the Cyclones last year.

Coughlin started the 2019-20 season with the ECHL Maine Mariners. Coughlin was traded to the ECHL Norfolk Admirals October 16th 2019. Coughlin played in 9 games with the Admirals before being traded to Cincinnati February 20th 2020. 

Coughlin played four years at the College of Holy Cross before signing his first professional contract with the ECHL Maine Mariners March 15th 2019.

Coughlin played one season in Vernon (2014-15) In 55 games with the Vipers, Coughlin collected (3-goals-15-assists-18-points).
