I watched the Vipers/Silverbacks game on BCHL TV tonight.
The Vipers opened the scoring and then the Silverbacks four straight 1st period goals, basically putting the game away after twenty minutes. I thought the Snakes played ok in the first half, Salmon Arm had a slight edge in play but Drew Bennett's goal seemed to turn the tables and in a hurry. The Apes outplayed Vernon in the second half and were by far the better team.
With a 4-1 lead in the 2nd period SA would add two more goals in the middle frame jumping out to a 6-1 lead and in full control. It was all Silverbacks as the Vipers were outplayed and looked very sloppy. It was all Salmon Arm in the 2nd period as the Vipers didn't look good.
With a 6-1 lead heading into the 3rd period, the Silverbacks took their foot off the gas and Vernon played their best period of the night. The Snakes carried a lot of the play, were finally able to create and generate some chances and had some good looks/opportunities. But with the game/score out of reach, it was too late for any kind of a comeback.
The Vipers just didn't have it tonight and it showed on the scoreboard. Vernon playing back to back games and four games in six days, while Salmon Arm hasn't played since Wednesday. The Snakes struggled and looked sloppy, had troubles getting pucks to the net and creating any kind of offence. Vernon looked a step behind at times and some very poor defensive coverage on a few goals. The Vipers struggled with the PP early before giving up the shorthanded goal, which seemed to change the game. A very disappointing game by the Vipers.
In a 6-2 game no Vipers looked good tonight.
Coming off two days with no games, the Silverbacks jumped on the Vipers in the 1st period and cruised to a 6-2 win. The Apes looked fresh, had their legs going and capitalized on most of their opportunities. Salmon Arm looked very good tonight. The Backs forwards were clicking on the rush and going to the net. SA was very good at both ends of the rink.
Hunter Sansbury, Cameron Recchi, Noah Serdachny, Sullivan Mack, Nathan Morgan & Drew Bennett looked good and played well for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
