I watched the Vipers/Warriors game tonight on BCHL TV

Both teams looked a little slow and didn't show much energy early in the 1st period. Both teams didn't generate much for offence in a back and fourth period where I thought the Warriors had a slight edge in play. How many times have we seen the Vipers give up the first goal in a hockey game this Pod season? West Kelowna does it again tonight.

The Vipers responded in the 2nd period and played very well in a period I thought they controlled and were the better team. The Snakes had pucks to the net, several good looks and opportunities. Zachary Bennett was solid between the pipes but the Vipers would eventually find the back of the net, scoring twice to take their first lead of the game. How big was Trey Taylor's goal with seconds remaining?

With a one goal lead the Vipers played a very defensive game, limiting the Tribe to only two shots. WK had two different times during the 3rd period where they poured on the pressure but couldn't get pucks through or towards the goal. The Vipers had more of an edge in play or a little more possession and were the better team in the 3rd. Vernon staged off a late attack from the Warriors. Tyler Cristall looked to have an open cage with seconds remaining but somehow missed on the opportunity to force overtime. Vernon hangs on for the big win.

After giving up the games first goal and not showing much life in the 1st period, I really liked Vernon's game in the final two periods. I thought the Vipers were the better team in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Had more puck possession, zone time and created/generated some very good looks and chances. The Snakes played with a lot more jump and energy in the final two frames, were physical, solid defensively and played well with the lead.

Trey Taylor, Nicholas Kent, Cameron MacDonald, Nicholas Remissong, Luke Pakulak & Logan Lorenz looked good and played well.

The Warriors played Sunday afternoon and it showed tonight. West Kelowna opened the scoring but were outplayed in the 2nd and 3rd periods. The Tribe put pressure on Vernon at times but overall gave up way too many shots, opportunities and zone time. The Warriors pressed on two different occasions in the 3rd but unable to get pucks through and on goal. Zachary Bennett kept the Tribe in tonight's contest. West Kelowna has struggled as of late with one win in their last seven games.

Zachary Bennett & Tyson Jugnauth played well and looked good for the West Kelowna Warriors.
