Nanaimo outshot Vernon 32-24 Zachary Bennett made 24 saves for the win/shutout, while Reilly Herbst made 27 saves in the loss. The Clippers snap the Vipers seven game winning streak. This was the Clippers first win at home over Vernon since a 5-2 victory on Saturday, October 3rd 2015

I watched the Vipers game this afternoon online. The hometown Nanaimo Clippers jumped out to a 3-0 1st period and basically carried the play most of the afternoon. It looked like the Clippers were by far the better of the two teams, saw a lot of time with the puck and in the offensive zone. Nanaimo had the night off last night, looked well rested and on there game. The Clippers played with an edge, were physical, in the face of the Vipers all game. The Shipmen put the game away in the 3rd with two quick back to back goals, never seemed to take there foot off the gas, using there top power play unit on a 3rd period power play. The Clippers looked to be rubbing salt in the wound after celebrating in front of the Vipers bench after goals in the 3rd period as well as a lengthy celebration after the final buzzer.
The Vipers playing there third game in three days had there seven game winning streak snapped. Vernon couldn't seem to get much of anything going, had troubles gaining any kind of traction and zone time, were outplayed for a lot of the game. The Snakes with very little puck possession had troubles creating/generating offence/opportunities. I thought the Vipers could have tried to get back in the hockey game needed a power play goal or two in the middle frame, to try and get some thing going but couldn't. Vernon looked a step behind and no match for the 1st place Clippers.
This is a game where I think if the Vipers faced Nanaimo in the first or second game of this weekend, you may have seen a different outcome. All teams have to travel and play three games in three days, but the home team should have to at least play the night before the Sunday afternoon game to make it a little more fair. It's always a tough grind for any team that has to travel and play three games in three days.
The Vipers eleven game road trip continues Friday in Victoria.

Its great our Vernon Vipers are on the road for such a long time. This will give them time to know there individual strengths and weakness's and learn from it as to improving there game. Also as a team learning how to improve there game. I am looking forward to seeing a much improved team with a raise the bar level of play as we all are as Vipers fans. Go,Vipers,Go.
