Langenegger earns back-to-back POW honours

October 21, 2019

Salmon Arm Silverbacks goaltender Ethan Langenegger has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20, the league announced Monday.

This is the second Player of the Week award in as many weeks for the Kamloops, B.C. native. Through two games last week, he stopped 74 of the 76 shots he faced, finishing the week with a .974 save percentage, a 1.00 goals-against average and one shutout.

In a matchup of the top-two teams in the BCHL standings on Wednesday, Langenegger faced a barrage of shots against the Penticton Vees, but managed to make 41 saves and was named the game’s first star as the Silverbacks won 5-2 to climb into top spot in the league. After getting the night off on Friday, the 19-year-old returned to action on Sunday against the Nanaimo Clippers where he stopped all 33 shots he faced to earn the shutout and first star selection in his team’s 2-0 win.

After a stellar two weeks, Langenegger is tied for the third-highest save percentage in the league at .939, owns the fourth-best goals-against average at 1.83, is tied for second with two shutouts and tied for first with 10 wins.

Not sure who deserves the credit for finding Reilly Herbst but what a great pick up for the Vipers. His numbers weren't great in the USHL but the change scenery has benefited him and the Vipers

Love the concept that Jason Mckee feels makes his team a team. You either give a 100 percent with the idea in mind that team is before indivdual for his team to be successful. That being said I hope all the players are buying into this because it would appear if not you probably will not be around and being traded is probably your option. GO,VIPERS.GO.
