Vipers Support Arena Referendum
Posted on 11/23/2015 by KISS News Staff
The second advance poll for the arena referendum will take place Wednesday.
The turnout of 11-hundred people at last week's advance suggests strong interest in the issue.
Vernon Vipers owner Duncan Wray is a strong proponent of a 2nd ice sheet at Kal Tire Place.
"The life span over the Civic Arena, it's served it's purpose over the years and it certainly has issues with it and there have been for a number of years. I think for the good of the community to throw money at that facility at this time would be foolhardy because you're going to be putting a band aid on it."
Wray says it won't benefit the Vipers to any great extent, but will help other minor sports and the local economy.
"The Vernon Vipers have been approached about hosting the BCHL Showcase which is a huge economic spin off for the hotels, restaurants and people coming into town. You can talk to the people in Chilliwack who have held it for the last three years."
