It's been a good week for former captains of the Surrey Eagles.
Just as 2012 captain Tyler Morley was named the player of the week for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, 2013 Fred Page Cup-winning captain Brett Mulcahy earned the same honour in the Atlantic Hockey Association with Holy Cross.
Mulcahy scored twice for the Crusaders in a 5-1 win over Sacred Heart on Nov. 6 and the next night, a 3-1 loss to the same team, Mulcahy tallied the only goal for his team.
The native of Kelowna, B.C. has five goals and two helpers in his last six games after being held off the scoresheet in his first three games of the season.
A 6-foot, 186-pound forward, Mulcahy posted 59 goals and 57 assists for 116 points in 201 BCHL games with West Kelowna, Surrey and Vernon. He played in the RBC Cup in 2013 with Surrey and was picked up by Vernon in 2014 when they hosted the RBC Cup.
This is the first time Mulcahy has earned a weekly player award in his NCAA career.
