I watched today's game online. Graham Turnbull said the Vipers didn't get back to their hotel until 1am after last nights loss in Alberni Valley and it showed in the 1st period as Cowichan jumped on the Vipers early and often. Roan Clarke was forced to make several highlight reel saves early as it could have been 4 or 5-0 after the opening frame. The Vipers played a little better in the 2nd period but penalties cost them as the Capitals score two power play goals to take a 3-0 lead into the 3rd period. The Vipers outplayed and dominated the 3rd period outshot Cowichan 19-4 would get to within a goal before a costly turnover regained the Caps two goal lead. A chippy 3rd period as several scrums and after the whistle activities took place, including former Viper Brett Fudger dropping the gloves with rookie Adam Bourgeois. Fudger now the Capitals captain with two goals today was giving it to the Vernon bench after each goal and fight. Both goaltenders were solid between the pipes. 15 year old "AP" goaltender Matthew Hutchinson stood on his head in the 3rd period and was the difference as Vernon outshot Cowichan 54-38 For a team that was 1-7 heading into this afternoon's game, the Capitals sure are a cocky bunch. The Snakes slow start and two power play goals were the difference as Vernon was a step behind and didn't look very sharp in the first two periods. The Vipers with six injuries and playing their third game in four days weren't at their best this afternoon. JoJo & Seiya Tanaka-Campbell had 55 close friends and family at todays game. Kjell Kjemhus took a big hit in the 3rd period had to be helped off the ice needed medical attention after the game.

The Vipers have lost three straight finish the six game road trip Wednesday in Salmon Arm. Vernon started the 2021-22 regular season having to play eight of their first nine games on the road.
