Day 3 Report From Vernon Vipers Training Camp:

I have been watching/following Junior hockey in Vernon my whole life. I have had season tickets since 1990 and only missed five home games since 2004. Here are my thought's and views from today's Vipers training camp.

I stopped by Kal Tire Place this morning for the only intra squad game of the day. The game was two thirty minute non stop run periods with a full ice clean between periods.

This morning saw Team Red vs Team Gold.

Starting Goaltenders:

Team Red: Roan Clarke
Team Gold: Ethan David

It was 1-1 after one period, while Team Gold scored the only goal of the 2nd period went on to win 2-1 in a fairly even scrimmage/game. In the lone intra squad game yesterday, Team Gold won 5-1 in a game where they controlled most of the game. Lot's of mistakes and sloppy play this morning in a game that saw very little contact/hitting. It's real hard to judge what kind of team will see this year from these kind of intra squad games. You will get more of a better look come the preseason.

Here is a list of players I thought stood out/or played well.

Team Red:

Nick Remissong had a few good shifts and was active with the puck at times.

Kjell Kjemhus returning from last season's Pod season, played well.

Roan Clarke played well between the pipes.

Team Gold:

Luke Ashton impressed me again after watching him play yesterday afternoon.

Nick Kent returning for a third season with the Vipers, was good on the blueline.

Ethan Mercer had a few good shifts and looked good.

Ethan David one of only two goaltenders at training camp was good in net today.

News & Notes:

I would saw around 50-60 fans in attendance this morning. Saw several season ticket holders at todays intra squad game.

I talked to one season ticket holder who said he ran into one of the Vipers assistant coaches yesterday in town and was told the Vipers will be taking 25 kids from training camp into the exhibition season. If you count the returning players from last year and the new recruits/committed players, that number comes to 26.

Here is a list of those 26 players

Desmond Johnson D 02
Griffen Barr D 02
Adam Bourgeois D 04
Jo Jo Tanaka-Campbell F 01
Nick Remissong F 02
Seiya Tanaka-Campbell F 03
