The 12-7-1-0 Defending Interior Division Champion Vernon Vipers make there first of three regular season visits to the Cominco Arena, are coming off a 3-2 shootout win in Surrey Sunday afternoon. Tonight is the first of back to back games in Trail and the seventh game of an eleven game road trip. The Vipers will play eleven games in twenty three days and don't play at home until November 22nd vs the visiting Salmon Arm Silverbacks. The Vipers last home game was October 19th vs the Trail Smoke Eaters. Vernon enters this evening have at least a point in ten of there last eleven games and have won nine of there last eleven games. Reilly Herbst has played in ten of the Snakes last eleven games. The Kelowna Rockets recently reassigned goaltender James Porter Jr to the Vipers earlier this week. Max Palaga has been out of the Snakes lineup since October 12th. Vernon sits 4th in the Interior division are a single point up on Wenatchee but six points back of 3rd place Trail and eight points back of Penticton & Salmon Arm who are tied in points.

Tonight's the first game of a two game home stand, after the Smoke Eaters return home from a three game road trip. Trail won two and lost one in a shootout. The Smokies have only won five of ten games at home, are 9-2-1-1 away from home. The last time these two teams met, the Vipers won 3-2 in overtime October 19th at Kal Tire Place. What is up with the Vipers schedule this year? There is nothing that I know of going on at Kal Tire Place, so why are the Vipers playing 11 games on the road in twenty three days and Viper fans don't see a home game for thirty three days? You cant tell me the Vipers couldn't play at least one or two home games either during the week or on a weekend?
The one and only time I can recall Vernon on a long road trip like this was in 2001 when the new arena was being built and wasn't finished in time for the start of the 2001-02 regular season. That was Mike Vandekamps first season with the Vipers and the Snakes started the season on a ten game road trip, returned home with a 2-8 record.
Does anyone know why the Vipers are on this lengthy road trip? Maybe someone from the Vipers or has a know in, can fill us in?

There have been several events, the ski swap was one. this weekend has the snow show. Next weekend is some craft show. Guess the city books events and the hockey schedules themselves around it. So glad we have HockeyTv so we can see all the road games. So worth the money! Especially like that you can watch the game anytime if you can't see it at the scheduled time. That said, we are looking forward to seeing them "live" again soon!
Thanks! I had no idea any of those events were going on at Kal Tire Place. Every time I drove by the rink, the parking lot was always empty. Even still, you think the Vipers could have had a mid week game at least once or twice during this lengthy road trip. Oh well it is what it is. The Vipers sure have had some different schedules the past five or six years.
