Broken leg sidelines former Viper fan favourite
Nov 04, 2019
The professional career of former Vernon Vipers captain Jagger Williamson, got off an unfortunate start.
The 21-year-old forward suffered a broken leg in the first game of the season for the Columbus (Georgia) River Dragons against the Delaware Thunder in the Federal Prospects Hockey League.
The incident happened Oct. 25.
“He is out indefinitely as of this time, but remains in Columbus right now and in good spirits,” said Zak DeBeaussaert, VP of communications for the River Dragons.
“As he was taking a hit, it looked like he stepped on the puck and landed awkwardly as the hit finished,” added DeBeaussaert.
Williamson, who grew up in Lumby, was a fan favourite during his five seasons with the Vipers.

I feel so bad for him. Such a nice young man with a great attitude, I hope everything works out for him as he is a person that deserves a chance because of all the good karma that he brings to the people around him.
This is terrible news! Wishing Jagger a full and healthy recovery and wishing him all the best with the River Dragons. One of if not the most fan favorites in franchise history. Not only did Williamson play five seasons in the league and all with his hometown Vipers, his stats and records are up there in franchise history with some of the other greats. If Williamson didn't miss so many games over those five seasons, Garth Gartner's games played record would have been shattered years ago. Williamson's #11 should be retired and hung up in the rafters along side Robbie Short & Chris Crowell.
