The Vernon Vipers have clinched 4th place in the Interior division & home ice advantage in the opening round of the playoffs after the Penticton Vees defeated the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5-2 tonight in Salmon Arm.
With the Silverbacks loss Salmon Arm remains three points behind the Snakes for 4th place with only one game remaining. The Silverbacks remain in 5th place are only two points up on West Kelowna after the Warriors 4-3 overtime victory tonight over the visiting Trail Smoke Eaters. The Warriors are only two points back of Salmon Arm for 5th place.
Salmon Arm travels to Penticton Saturday, while West Kelowna is in Trail. A Silverbacks victory Saturday in Penticton and Vernon will host Salmon Arm in round 1 of the playoffs. A Silverbacks loss and a Warriors win in Trail and the Vipers will host West Kelowna in the opening round of the BCHL playoffs.

I think the Vipers would rather face West Kelowna over Salmon Arm. The Snakes went 1-5 vs the Silverbacks this year and 5-1 vs the Warriors. Travel distance is very close to either town, but I think overall Vernon has a better chance knocking off West Kelowna over Salmon Arm. I know it's the playoffs and anything can happen but I like the Vipers chances over a struggling West Kelowna team.
