#3 Agree that this is a perfect example of the horrible calls in the BCHL and more specifically the ref who made this call. This hit was shoulder to shoulder, no elbow up and the player's head was certainly not the primary area of contact. Blow To The Head calls are far too common, are extremely unfair to the players and should not be called unless it is a blatant foul. The players have far too much at stake with resulting suspensions and ultimately their scholarships. Officiating is a tough job but common sense must apply with some benefit of the doubt going to the players. This league is being ruined by over zealous referees who want to be the entertainment. I trust the supervisor of referees will review this call and deal with his staff accordingly.
