Penguins Sign Viper Alumni Collins:

The Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) Krefeld Pinguine (Krefeld Penguins) have signed former Vernon Vipers forward Mike Collins.  The Pinguine is an ice hockey team in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga hockey league. Their home is in Krefeld, North-Rhine-Westphalia, Germany at the König Palast.

Collins played last season with the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) Kassel Huskies. The Huskies are a professional ice hockey team based in Kassel, Hesse, Germany that play in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga Hockey League. Collins finished his fourth and final season at Merrimack College before turning pro in early March 2014.  Collins signed a Professional Try Out (PTO) contract with the American Hockey League (AHL) Providence Bruins on March 11th 2014. Collins went pointless in four games with the Bruins was released on March 27th 2014.  On the same day Collins signed his second pro contract with the AHL Iowa Wild before being released after going pointless in six games. 

Collins played two season's in Vernon (2008-2010) In 119 regular season games with the Vipers Collins recorded (55-goals-71-assists-126-points).

' I would like to be proved at this level and do the next step in my career “

The field Kre Penguins have taken Mike Collins under contract. The forward comes from the DEL2 of Kassel Huskies to the Lower Rhine and signed a contract for the coming season 2015/2016. The 1.85 m and 82 kg left shooter from Boston, Massachusetts (USA) risen in the tramped playing time with 27 gates and 81 points to the Topscorer of the DEL2.

„ I had the purpose to be recommended in Kassel for one of the big European leagues. Now I have managed this. Field Kre has achieved big success during the last years and I would like to help to go back to it. Besides, the participation in the CHL is a special candy about which I am glad very much. I would like to be proved at this level and do the next step in my career “, explained Collins.

Of field Kre Co coach Reemt Pyka said: „ Of course one must wait with a player from the second league always for how he acclimatizes in the DEL and to him for it some time concede. However, we are persuaded that Mike creates this step and he can become a quite important player of our team. We are very glad to be able to win him for the penguins and hope that he will help to distribute the offensive to more shoulders. He is a player interesting for high who will make our team all together better, we are persuaded of it absolutely! “

The plannings with foreign new obligations conclude the field Kre penguins with the obligation of Mike Collins and will complement the cadre still with young, hopeful talents from the promising camp.
