While it is exciting to see the new players recruited for next year we also must be realistic. These players are young and rarely does a new player have any immediate success or impact on the game. Look at our young guys this year, Bieksa & Taylor had energy but very little finish. Czaja & Duhamel came in later, played more regularly but still were finding their way in this league. To be successful we will need veteran 19 & 20 year olds to carry the mail. The rookies certainly will be important and need the ice time to acclimate to this league but we must be patient, it will take them time to get to a level of competency & productivity. Unfortunately the Viper coaching staff for the past 5 years has been unwilling to nurture & develop these young players, giving up on them very quickly. How many of these new recruits will be around for Christmas and who will be the veterans we will count on for consistent play & leadership?
