Vipers Alumni Bourne On Hockey And Alcoholism:

Former Vernon Vipers forward Justin Bourne talks about his book 'Down and Back,' an honest and open look at how alcoholism affected his career, marriage, and life.

Bourne played four years at the University of Anchorage Alaska from 2003-2007 before signing his first professional contract with the American Hockey League Alaska Aces in 2007. Bourne played three seasons in the American Hockey League and ECHL from 2007-2009 with five different teams before a serious jaw injury forced Bourne to retire from professional hockey in 2009. Bourne attended the New York Islanders training camp in 2007. Justin's father is New York Islanders legend Bob Bourne who played twelve seasons with the Islanders winning four straight Stanley Cups.

Bourne spent seven years as a hockey writer for USA Today, the Hockey News, The Score, The Athletic as well as writing his own hockey blogs before joining the American Hockey League Toronto Marlies for two seasons as video coach from 2015-2017.

Bourne played two seasons in Vernon from 2001-2003. In 120 games with the Vipers, Bourne collected (58-goals-73-assists-131-points).

Has anyone ever noticed that Justin sometimes has his Vernon Vipers Jersey hanging in the background on the set of the Real Kyper and Bourne. Kinda Cool!
