I watched the Vipers game online this evening. This was a pretty good hockey game as both teams played well. I thought both teams were fairly even in the 1st period, while the Bucks had the early edge in play in the first half of the 2nd period with the Vipers having the edge in play in the second half of the 2nd period. Vernon was the better team in the 3rd only managed to score once. The Bucks with two power play goals, while the Vipers had lots of opportunities, couldn't capitalize on their chances. Jordin Palmer left the game with an injury. The Vipers pulled Ethan David after two goals. Braedyn McIntosh was solid in goal for the Bucks and the difference in the hockey game. At the end of the day the Vipers still lose and lose to a team below them in the standings. Two teams going in different directions. The Vipers are struggling, have lost four straight games and six of their last ten games. Since a 10-1 loss to the Vipers November 1st, the Bucks have gone 9-4. Cranbrook has won four of their last five games and won seven of their last ten games. Don't look now but the Bucks move into 5th place with the win and are only six points back of the Snakes. The Vipers schedule doesn't get any easier. Vernon returns from the Holidays with games vs Penticton & Salmon Arm before facing Cranbrook again.
The cranbrook coaching staff with such a young team have improved. I had talked to its coaches early in the year when the vipers did a number on them. He said I am not worried as with good coaching and making the young players know what it takes to succeed we will be ok and will be able to turn this team into a competitor. Well the tide has changed a showing of compassion and understanding towards the players letting them know the coaches have there backs and progress will be made on the win column. This formula seems to work rather than old school yelling and bullying your players into performance. Again time will tell whether this coaching style of Jason's is going to be effective in the long run. GO,VIPER,GO.
The Glenn's have a nice little break here to replace their Head coach. Christmas or not a change is long overdue.

Its been six years, thats is the “long run”, the coaching has not been effective, 213GP - 113W - 100L
The coaching hasn't been effective in the AJHL the WHL or the BCHL
I doubt there will be a coaching change, even though it’s badly needed and long overdue.
Is it possible the owners are looking for a new coach but no one is interested in coaching or working for them?
When the Vipers were winning at the beginning of the season, the coaching discussions seemed to stop. Now that the Vipers are in a loosing trend, coaching is brought up again. At some point the players are part of the problem as well. None of them are new to playing hockey and would they not find a way to win? We are missing some leaders and skill right now due to injuries and that hurts the whole team. The depth of the Vipers is shallow and it shows when top line players are not on the ice.
Are you going to blame the players on EVERY Viper team McKee has coached? Ask anyone in the know and you will find out he probably couldn't coach a minor hockey rep team.
I've really liked Owen King since he came to Vernon From Langley in the Luke Ashton trade over the summer. He's been a great winger and with the injuries he's been playing centre for many games lately. But guess who is Langley's second leading scorer? Luke Ashton. Remember last year when he scored his only two goals of the year in the same game? This year he has 11 goals and 11 assists for a relatively weak and low scoring Langley team.
Bob you mean Owen Kim? Owen King hasn't played a game for the Vipers this season. He is out for the season with an injury.
You are correct JB, the lack of depth is a result of the defection from Hockey Canada and without control of the hockey decisions no coach with any credentials would ever want to be involved with John Glenn.
All I said is the players are part of the problem. I have no history on McKee’s previously coached teams.
Yeah, Kim. I don't know how I made that mistake. Somebody else made the same Kim/King typo earlier this year. Wink, wink.
