Some questions heading into training camp/new season.
With a possible twelve players returning from last season and thirteen new recruits/committed players committed for the 2022-23 season and a veteran 20 yr old they acquired through trade, this gives the Vipers 28 players heading into training camp and well over the league limit. How many kids will be at training camp and who will get cut/or traded?
The Vipers scouting/recruiting hasn't been great since new ownership has taken over. Other then some stand outs, It seems like several of the Vipers recruits/committed players in recent years were below average, released or traded. What will this years recruitment group look like? The Vipers don't seem to be able to recruit those high end elite players like Penticton gets.
Since joining the Vipers in 2019 Jason McKee has had average teams at best and has a record of 96-94 as Vipers Head Coach/GM. With one of the poorest starts in franchise history last season, will McKee have a short leash this season? If the Vipers get off to a poor start or continue to struggle through out the season, will we see a coaching change?
Vernon has a long history of winning and Viper fans have been very spoiled over the decades and expect a winning yet competitive team. New ownership, management and coaching staff need to put together a competitive team that can compete with the Penticton's, Chilliwack's, Salmon Arm's etc. A sub par 500 or just above 500 team won't cut it anymore.
Go Vipers Go!
The word is out about Mckee and his coaching staff thru good info sources that vernon with mckee reputation from alberta and hockey academys is not the place to go. Coaching change a must
Coaching staff change a must for fans confidence this is no joke
VDH... I couldn't agree more. Well written!!! This is the year that McKee must prove he is a BCHL coach and the recruiting he is responsible for as GM has been good. Unfortunately so far the McKee/Glen recruiting has been sub par and his teams have proven it. How many "high end" players have we seen come and quickly go in the past few years? Quite simply, we have been out recruited in the years since he took over the Vipers. Hockey teams are no different than other businesses, tough decisions must be made when things are not working. I vote for a short leash as too many loyal fans have already left.
Looking forward to the season but would to see Todd millar introduce new marketing ideas with his team or if need be bring in a pro-marketing person. Suggestions such as seniors day bring a friend who gets in free.future fan. Kids promotion like penticton does.future fans.Make people more aware of your in housepromos.
The glens could promote a leased car give away. Such from centre ice with a wide open net if a lucky contestent gets the puck in five times he or she wins a leased car up until next season.Lets get tbe fans excited with something tbey can win rather then that chessy little hole for the puck to go in.
Lets get the business's who promote the vipers more envolved. Bring the restuarant people out at centre ice at half time an promote a give away such as pizza a week or burger a week with a contest .
Why not promote a local country ,rock or anything musical could be a scottish pipe band on the ice at half time. There are so many ideas so lets start fresh this season not in tbe past all dried up like a prune. Good luck Todd
I want to see the Glens more active with our community. Let me hear the Glens on our local radio station. Let me see glens present a written thank you to the fans in our local paper by the Glens. Have the glens meet the fans day at our local village green mall as fans sign up for season tickets. For goodness sakes the Glens should show they care about our community.Come on do something. You can do it.
