Former Vernon Lakers forward Bruce Ramsay was named the ECHL Coach

of the year. Former Vernon Vipers forward Andrew Lord finished second in voting.

Wichita’s Ramsay receives John Brophy Award as ECHL Coach of the Year

Ramsay will be entering his third season this fall as Head Coach/GM with the ECHL Wichita Thunder. Ramsay lead the Wichita Thunder to a 41-22-6-2 record last season finishing 2nd place in the ECHL Western Conference.

Ramsay retired from playing professional hockey in 2005. Ramsay has spent the past sixteen years coaching in the UHL, IHL, CHL, AHL & ECHL with four different teams (Muskegon, Tulsa, Grand Rapids & Wichita).

Ramsay played one season in Vernon with the 1989-90 Vernon Lakers. In 53 games with the Lakers, Ramsay collected (11-goals-11-assists-22-points). Ramsay was captain of the 1989-90 Vernon Lakers that hosted and won their first Centennial Cup in 1990.

Former Vernon Vipers forward Andrew Lord will be entering his second season this fall as Head Coach & Director of Hockey operations of the ECHL Greenville Swamp Rabbits, finished second in voting for ECHL Coach of the year. In his first season behind the bench, Lord lead the Swamp Rabbits to a 38-19-12-3 record last season finishing 2nd in the ECHL Eastern Conference.

Lord spent the past seven seasons with the British Elite Ice Hockey League Cardiff Devils as a player, Head Coach & Director of Hockey operations before retiring as a hockey player in 2018. The Devils are a Welsh ice hockey team that plays in the British Elite Ice Hockey League.

After a scholarship to RPI (Rensselaer Poly Inst) Lord spent four years from 2008-2012 with four different teams in the ECHL & American Hockey League (Wheeling Nailers, Milwaukee Admirals, Oklahoma City Barons & Rochester Americans). Lord missed the entire 2011-12 season due to injury before playing one season in Germany and then seven years in Welsh with the Cardiff Devils.

Lord played two seasons in Vernon (2002-2004). The Burnaby Bulldogs traded Lord to Vernon in August 2002 for Steve Jordan. In 116 games with the Vipers, Lord collected (22-goals-50-assists-78-points).
