May 6, 2020
Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce that Matt Kowalski has committed to Queen’s University for next season.
Kowalski, hailing from Vernon, was the Vipers leading scorer last season with 26 goals and 36 assists. This was a career high. He was also the only Viper to suit up for all 58 games last season.
“I hope my brain still works after missing all this time off school,” Kowalski jokes. “I’m extremely excited to commit to Queen’s. They have a fantastic program for not only hockey, but academics as well.”
Kowalski is a veteran of the BCHL suiting up for 223 games played in 5 seasons.
“It was a special time for me playing in front of friends and family for the last two years.”
Queen’s University is based out of Kingston, Ontario and play in the U Sports Collegiate Circuit. This past season they fell a tad short to St. FX in the USports Quarter Finals.
The Vipers would like to wish Matt all the best in his future.

Congrats Matt! I'm super happy for Matty! One of the more if not exciting Vipers this season and maybe last year, always seemed to put on a show for his hometown crowd. I was surprised he didn't have a scholarship much sooner. Wishing you all the best in your hockey/life futures.
