Bruins Add Experience On Defence In Swap Of 1999-Born Players
The Estevan Bruins pulled the trigger on a blockbuster deal on Wednesday, acquiring defenceman Tylor Ludwar ('99) from the AJHL's Okotoks Oilers in exchange for forward Tristyn Deroose ('99).
The Regina-born blueliner joins the Bruins after splitting the last two-and-a-half seasons between the WHL's Kamloops Blazers and the AJHL's Okotoks Oilers. After joining the Oilers midway through the 18-19 season, Ludwar tallied 9 points (1G, 8A) in 27 games and then added 3 points (1G, 2A) in 13 playoff games for Okotoks.
Before his junior career, Ludwar played Midget AAA for the Regina Pat Canadians and was on the 2014-15 Telus Cup Bronze Medal squad that included now-former Bruins: Arthur Miller, Jake Tesarowski, Jake Heerspink, Bryce Platt, Mark Edmands, and Matthew Chekay.
Ludwar will add experience to the Bruins blueline for the 2019-20 season after losing defenceman Johnny Witzke, Jake Heerspink and Aigne McGeady-Bruce to graduation.
