Former Vernon Vipers forward Steven Jandric was name WCHA Rookie of the Week.
Jandric is in his first season at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, played two seasons in Vernon (2015-2017) Played in 115 regular season games with the Vipers collected (34-goals-39-assists-73-points).

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – On Monday, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced that Alaska Nanooks hockey sophomore forward Colton Leiter and freshman forward Steven Jandric were named the Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. It is both Leiter and Jandric's first WCHA Player of the Week honor of their careers and the first two-player weekly honor for the Alaska Nanooks since Feb. of 2015.
Leiter and Jandric's offensive performances helped the Nanooks to, not only their first victory of the 2017-18 season, but their first sweep on the year after defeating in-state rival Alaska Anchorage 6-2 on Friday before winning 3-2 on Saturday. Although it was a non-conference series versus the Seawolves, Alaska takes a 2-0 lead in the best-of-six game Alaska Airlines Governor's Cup series.
Leiter and Jandric led all WCHA players over the weekend in points, tallying four points each to tie one another. Leiter recorded two goals and two assists and tied the league lead in goals (2), points (4), goals per games played (1.00), points per games played (2.00), game-winning goals (1) and plus/minus (+5). In Friday's 6-2 victory, Leiter recorded his first-ever three-point night, notching one goal and two assists, including the game-winning assist before scoring the game-winning goal on Saturday to defeat UAA. Entering the week, Leiter is currently on a five-game point streak.
Jandric led all rookies and tied Leiter for a league-leading four point weekend over the Seawolves, chipping in one goal and three assists for four points. Jandric recorded a career-best one goal and two assists for a three-point night on Friday before collecting the game-winning assist on Saturday. Entering the week, Jandric has now registered two multi-point games for the Nanooks this season. Jandric led the league in assists (3) and assists per games played (1.50) and tied for the league lead in points (4), points per games played (2.00) and plus/minus (+5).
The Alaska Nanooks hockey team heads to Bowling Green, Ohio this weekend to open up WCHA play against the BGSU Falcons in a two-game conference series on the road this Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28. Puck-drop is slated for 3:07pm AKT on both nights.
