I stopped by Kal Tire Place this morning to check out the second day of the Vernon Vipers Spring ID Camp.
Each scrimmage/game is three full twenty minute periods with non stop running time & a full ice clean between each period. A penalty is an automatic penalty shot.
The 10am scrimmage/game saw Team Green defeat Team Blue 5-2 in front of around 100 or so fans in attendance. This was a fairly even game with both teams having a couple of players on each side stand out.
- Johnny McHugh stood out for Team Green. Can skate, plays with a lot of speed, created/generated several opportunities
- Michael Ledoux stood out in goal for Team Green
- Dawson Butler was one of the better players for Team Blue. This kid is quick, was hard to contain and played hard. Always seemed to be engaged and involved in the play
The 12pm scrimmage/game saw Team Red defeat Team Blue 8-3 in front of around 100 fans or so. Team Red was by far the better team and carried/controlled a lot of the game through out all three periods.
- Richard Pecko scored three goals was the best player on the ice
The 2pm scrimmage/game saw Team White beat Team Green 6-4 in front of around 100 fans give or take. This was a pretty even game at times with Team Green leading 3-2 going into the 3rd until Team White scored four 3rd period goals to come away with the win.
The entire Vipers coaching staff was in attendance while former Vernon Vipers Trevor Keenan and Colton Sparrow were also in attendance.
For the first time in years lineups were available for fans.
The 3rd and final day of Spring Camp wraps up tomorrow morning with a consolation and Championship game before exit meetings following the games.
