Fifty six years ago today (April 9th 1970) For several months word was out that the Vernon Minor Hockey Association would be putting the Vernon Essos junior hockey team up for sale at the end of the current season. After several months the sale of the hockey team has been explained.

The Vernon Essos were one of seven different team names Vernon's junior hockey team has had since joining the league in 1961. The Vernon Essos were around from 1967-1973 before changing their name to the Vernon Vikings in 1973.
