Former Vernon Vipers defenceman Tyler Valin & the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League Fernie Ghostriders won the Kootenay Conference Championship in six games after a 4-0 victory over the visiting Beaver Valley Nitehawks March 30th 2024. The Ghostriders advance to the KIJHL Teck Cup Finals April 5th vs the Revelstoke Grizzlies.

Valin is in his third season as Head Coach/GM with the KIJHL Fernie Ghostriders. Fernie finished 1st in the Eddie Mountain Division with a regular season record of 29-11-3-1
Valin spent the 2020-21 season as an Assistant Coach with the Alberta Junior Hockey League Whitecourt Wolverines. Prior to joining the Wolverines, Valin spent three seasons as Head Coach of the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers U18 AAA team.
Valin played parts of two seasons in Vernon from 1998-2000. Valin was traded to the Prince George Spruce Kings during the 1999-2000 season. Prince George traded Valin back to Vernon for the following season where he split the 2000-01 season between the Vernon Vipers & the Alberta Junior Hockey League Grande Prairie Storm and Bow Valley Eagles. In 40 games with the Vipers, Valin collected (1-goal-5-assists-6-points).
