I watched tonight's Game 3 on Flo Hockey. This was a very intense/chippy game with lots of emotion. Down 2-0 in the series and back on home ice, you knew the Smokies were going to come out hard and they sure did. Trail jumped out to a quick/early 2-0 1st period lead and were the better team in the opening period. The Vipers didn't look ready/or sharp to start the game and it cost them, falling down 2-0. Give the Snakes credit, they re-grouped and played a much better 2nd period, tying the game. Vernon would mount the comeback and take their first lead of the night in the 3rd before the Smokies rally to tie the game before the Vipers re-take the lead and add an empty netter for insurance. Vernon with another strong/solid effort/game in the 3rd period. Both teams were undisciplined and took several penalties. Both teams got suckered into taking penalties instead of skating away. This game had that playoff feel as the hatred was very strong on both sides. I know it's only Game 3 but tonight was a must win for the Smoke Eaters, are now on the brink of elimination in Game 4 tomorrow.
How about the young kids stepping up and coming through for the Vipers? Erik Pastro, Bronson Ross and Shea Busch with big games tonight.
I don't think many Vipers fans saw this coming? Especially with a 1-4-0-0 record vs Trail in the regular season.
Assistant Coaches Lukas Lomicky and Colton Sparrow are now 10-2-1-0 since the Vipers parted ways with Head Coach/GM Jason McKee.
Great recap. As a Vipers fan I definitely didn’t see this one coming, even though I had hoped they’d show up with this much effort. I hope they’re able to hold the energy for tomorrow and brush off the likes of Dawson etc and focus, to earn another victory. I also think the coaches are doing a great job with what they were handed and the kids look much more confident. Tomorrow will be exciting.

An unexpected win that’s for sure. One more boys and off to round two!
