The Prince George Spruce Kings improve to 24-18-4-1 after a 3-2 victory over the 21-20-2-4 Vernon Vipers in front of 740 fans at the Kopar Memorial Arena in Prince George.
I tried to watch the Vipers game on HockeyTV but due to technical difficulties I was forced to listen to the 2nd period on my radio before getting the 3rd period back online but with no audio. Very frustrating
The Vipers give up an early goal, fall behind 2-0 and outplayed in the 1st period. The Snakes respond and I thought played much better and were the better team in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Vernon battled back to tie the game 2-2 early into the 3rd but give up a late power play goal in the final minutes in a very disappointing loss vs a team they are chasing in the standings. Jason McKee sounded upset and not happy with his team and teams effort. These two games this weekend were huge as the Vipers were only three points back of the Spruce Kings for 5th place in the standings. Vernon has lost four of their last five games and six of their past ten games are struggling and not playing consistent hockey late in the season.
