Brandes is the ninth player to commit to the Vipers for the 2022-23 season. Brandes is the fourth defenceman to commit to the Vipers for next season. This is a first as the Vipers have never announced new recruits/committed players during the current season. In fact all most all teams across the league use to make announcements during the summer leading up to the next season. A few teams started making announcements during the current season a few years ago and now it seems like most if not all teams are doing it now. Makes sense, why not make your announcements during the season when your fans are going to the games/following the team, not during the summer when a lot of fans aren't thinking hockey or follow the team as much during the summer months.
