I watched the Warriors/Vipers game online this evening.
The 1st period was fairly even for most of it but I thought the Vipers had the better of the scoring chances.
Both teams were fairly even for most of the middle frame with Vernon having a slight edge in play at times. I thought both goaltenders were a little more busier in the 2nd period were both forced to make some large saves.
The Snakes opened the scoring just before the halfway mark but the lead didn't last more then a few minutes as the Warriors tied the game and forced overtime. Again I thought both teams were fairly even. Both teams had some good looks/opportunities. I thought West Kelowna had a slight edge in the play and had the better of the opportunities. Both goaltenders were again very solid.
Carter Wilkie was stopped on a breakaway off the opening faceoff as the West Kelowna Warriors had the better of the play, more puck possession and more chances. Both netminders had to be good.
Zach Brooks scored the lone goal of the shootout in the sixth round.
The Vipers & Warriors matched pretty well tonight. I thought the Snakes held their own at times as one team never really took control of a period or parts of the game. Vernon played well enough to win fell short in the shootout.
James Porter Jr, Ryan Shostak, Tyler Carpendale looked good and played well for the Vernon Vipers.
The Warriors have the Vipers number this Pod season have played very well against Vernon. West Kelowna who played last night in a 6-5 shootout loss to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks didn't show any real signs of tiredness. The Tribe is now 4-1 vs the Vipers this Pod season. I thought the Warriors were quick most of the game, really moved the puck well and had lot's of quality chances. Johnny Derrick was again very solid between the pipes facing his former team. WK looked good at times. This game could have easily gone either way.
Carter Wilkie, Zach Brooks, Porter Dawson, Johnny Derrick, Cameron Hicklin, Tyler Cristall & Benjamin Woodhouse looked good and played well for the West Kelowna Warriors.
A late start for tonight's game (7:30pm) and another 7:30pm start tomorrow night between Salmon Arm & Vernon.
I have said this before on here. It is hard to get a real good look or view of the game watching the games on the computer compared to watching the games live and in person. I'm very thankful these games are online and available to watch.
It's sure weird watching the Vipers play at this time of the year after the amazing weather were having here in the Okanagan.
My condolences Mr.VDHF
I don't really intend to pour salt on the wounds....but I do get a bit of pleasure seeing the Vipers lose to the WKW. All in good fun though. You're a great sport and I enjoy reading your game thoughts and posts.
Keep it up!
Uncle Ben
