I watched the Silverbacks/Vipers game on BCHL TV tonight.

The Silverbacks jumped out to a 2-0 1st period lead and were the better of the two teams. The Vipers did manage to quickly get back in the game before the the hockey game but would eventually give up a third goal minutes later to trail once again. The Apes had the better of the play and had way more shots on goal and chances. The Snakes had trouble getting zone time and any real puck possession. SA had an edge in play and was the better team after twenty minutes.

Vernon responded with a much better effort and performance in the 2nd period, tied the game early but fell behind for a third time midway through the period. The Vipers did a much better job defensively and held SA to only eight shots on goal. I thought the Vipers had the edge in play at times and were the better team in this period.

The Snakes with a very solid 3rd period would score three straight goals to take their first lead of the contest. Vernon carried a lot of the play, had some very good looks and quality chances, had more pucks to the net and played well defensively. The Silverbacks had troubles containing Vernon's speed in the 3rd and gave up way too many odd man rushes. The Vipers were the better team in the final two periods.

The Vipers for whatever reason seem to struggle in most 1st periods. The Snakes seem to give up the games first goal on most nights and have to play from behind. Vernon didn't look very good in the 1st but responded with a much better 2nd and 3rd periods and were the better team in the final two periods. Give this team credit, not only do they lose their head coach but have to come from behind on three different occasions. The Vipers never quit and battled back and improved as the game went on. Vernon has now won three straight for the first time since starting the Pod season 3-0. The Vipers have had Salmon Arm's number going 6-1 vs the Backs this Pod season.

Tyler Carependale, Cameron MacDondald, Nicholas Remissong, Trey Taylor, Reagan Milburn & JoJo Tanaka-Campbell looked good and played well for the Vernon Vipers.

The Silverbacks who have had their problems with the Snakes this Pod season, blow 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 leads won't be happy. The Gorillas should put Vernon away when they had their chances, instead allow the Vipers back into the hockey game and lose a game in which they probably should have won. SA with a very good opening period wasn't the same team in the 2nd and 3rd periods, had troubles containing the Vipers speed and skill and keeping the puck out of the net.

Hunter Sansbury, Simon Tassy, Noah Serdachny, Sullivan Mack & Lucas Matta looked good and played well for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
