This was the last Junior hockey game to be played in the aging Civic Arena, the former home of Junior hockey before the Vipers moved into Kal Tire Place in 2001. It was exactly 80 years to the date of the Vipers/Spruce Kings game that the Civic Arena first opened, January 6th 1938. The Civic Arena is slated for demolition, possibly in 2018.
This would be the last game for long time owner Duncan Wray, who passed away January 11th 2018.
