The British Columbia Hockey League moves into the second round of the playoffs this week with a number of excellent match-ups.
After going 5-3 while teams to emerge from the first round, I’ll try the luck again in the second.
Trail Smoke Eaters vs Penticton Vees – Trail did a fantastic job against West Kelowna. I just not sure how much weight that’s going to carry against Penticton. Regardless, we are at the point now where everybody is very familiar with each other. MY PICK: Penticton
Wenatchee Wild vs Vernon Vipers – It’s funny because the general thought is that this series is expected to go all seven games. I’m not so sure about that. The fact is that either team could ride a hot goalie to a four game sweep. That’s what it’s going to come down to as well. MY PICK: Wenatchee
Surrey Eagles vs Prince George Spruce Kings – This one is going to come down to what team travels better than the other. I’m sorry Surrey, but PG has the travel thing down to a science and is very difficult to beat at home. MY PICK: Prince George
Powell River Kings vs Victoria Grizzlies – The Grizz looked suspect in their seven-game series against the Bulldogs. Having to take the last four games proved that the boys can pull through under pressure. The Kings needed six to get through Nanaimo in a series that played more like a back-yard grudge match. These guys are in for a heck of a challenge. The coin toss choice is... MY PICK: Powell River
