This was way overdue and a great gesture by the Vipers and the Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame and everyone who was involved putting on this special night.

I was always wondered growing up why the Vernon Canadians never had a Allen Cup Championship banner hanging at the Civic Arena.

I have to wonder, will we now see more Vernon Hockey Legend banners added to Kal Tire Place in the future? The Penticton Vees have their ring of honour, honouring their past hockey greats. It would be very special if the Vipers will continue this and add more Vernon Hockey Legend banners in the future kind of making it like a Vernon Junior Hockey hall of fame.

Who would be the next Vernon Hockey Legend to have his banner raised to the rafters? Vern Dye, Bill Brown, Eddie Johnstone, Mel Lis, Scott Longstaff, Kellen & Connor Jones, Ernie & Lanny Gare, Campbell Blair are some off the top of my head just to name a few.

HELLO, KAL TIRE, HELLO TOLKO , HELLO SAFEWAY, ETC. My comment is find a sponsor, find a banner. Surely some of the ones I have just mentioned would contact Todd Miller and suggest that they would step up to the plate and make a reality diehard fan blog guy with a banner in regards to past hockey hero's . Hell it is a write off in there books and they look to be the hero from an adverting point of view. I'm just sayin.

From what I have heard we don't need a sponsor this is all to do with the City of Vernon. The city which runs the arena has too many rules and regulations in regards as to what can & cannot be done in the arena. I personnally have been in 7 other BCHL rinks and they all have their past hockey team photos displayed in the rink but NOT in Vernon cause the City won't allow it! The Vipers had too take down past championship banners 2 get the 2 new banners up..Come on City of Vernon lets be proud & loud about our hockey..we have a deep & great history that should be diplayed in one of the best rinks in the BCHL

I have also heard the same sort of thing regarding the Vipers and Kal Tire Place. I heard from several people-fans over the years, the arena wont allow the Vipers to hang all of their their championship banners above the ice from the rafters, this is why they are hung on the far wall. I also heard the Vipers have tried to do things inside Kal Tire Place and were turned down.

I wish the Vipers were able to hang all their former team pictures etc around the arena for fans to see. I really like what they did in Salmon Arm with the team pictures. I would love to see more past history from the Vipers and former Vernon junior teams around the rink, we have a great junior hockey history in Vernon, lets show it off!
