VERNON, B.C.  DECEMBER 27th, 2017

The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the return of Defenceman Cameron Trott to the Hockey Club. The 20 year old spent the first half of the season with the University of Alaska Anchorage in the NCAA.

Trott returns to the Snakes after posting 2 goals and 1 assist in 10 games in the NCAA this season. Last year in Vernon he recorded 3 goals and 17 assists in 32 games.

The 6’3 205 pound product of Anmore BC has over 110 games of BCHL experience and will be a welcomed addition to an already solid Viper blue-line.

Head Coach Mark Ferner is happy to have Trott back in Vernon. “Any time you can add a player of this calibre without having to subtract from your roster it is a positive for sure. Cam is a player we know very well and we are very excited to have him back and in our line-up.”

The Vipers had an available roster space with 20 year old Tanner Wishnowski still on injured reserve.

Trott is expected to make his season debut against his former team when the Vernon Vipers and Salmon Arm Silverbacks hook up in a home and home series beginning Friday in Salmon Arm.

Tickets for Saturday’s return match in Vernon are on sale all week at the Viper Office in Kal Tire Place from 9-4.

This is huge news! Trott was a huge addition to the Snakes last year, after coming over in a trade with Salmon Arm. A strong Viper defence, gets even better heading down the stretch drive.

With the addition of Trott, this now puts Vernon with eight defencemen and seven 20 yr olds (Cameron Trott, Tanner Wishnowski, Jimmy Lambert, Brandon Whistle, Michael Ufberg, Shane Kelly & Anthony Yamnitsky).

Wishnowski hasn't played since leaving the 3rd period in a game vs Surrey on October 21st. The Vipers have kept this injury quiet. I would still expect to see Wishnowski back or he wouldn't still be with the team, if he was injured long term-out for the season. If Wishnowski returns, my guess is Brandon Whistle is the odd 20 yr old out. I hope Wishnowski returns, as he has much more upside and brings more to the lineup over Whistle.

With the addition of Trott the Snakes now have eight d-men, meaning two will be sitting on a daily basis.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Wishnowski and if the Vipers make any more moves before the trade deadline.
