Vipers Training Camp Begins

The Vernon Vipers main training camp hits the ice at Kal Tire Place today.
There are morning practise sessions and then two games at 5:30 and 7:30.
Coach Mark Ferner says no job from last year is safe.
"We have four teams that we feel is going to be a very competitive group. Like I told our veterans and the players coming in, you've got to earn a spot."
Ferner says he hopes to build a much more competitive team this year.
"We've got great kids returning. They understand what happened. They are looking foward to getting things started, but at the same time we've done our work and gone out and idenfitied some good talent and they are coming with one thing in mind and that is to make our hockey team."
Ferner says the young players on last year's team should be better this year...but no one's spot is guaranteed.
"We're bringing in older players this year and you kind of have to make the hockey team again. Just because you played on the team last year doesn't mean you're going to play on our team this year."
The Vipers start their exhibiton season this Thursday and Friday at Kal Tire Place against Penticton and then Merritt.
