Day 1 Report From Vipers Training Camp:

I stopped by Kal Tire Place for the first day of Vipers Training Camp after work tonight and caught the 3rd period of the final scrimmage game.  Team Green was leading 4-3 to start the 3rd & defeated Team White 7-3.  

Team White had several scoring chances off the opening faceoff to start the 3rd, before the pace really slowed down.  As the period went on Team Green took over and carried the better of the play, getting some good chances.  It was really hard to get a good look at both teams with only being able to catch the final period of the final game of the night.  This afternoon Team Black defeated Team Blue 4-3 in a Shoot-Out.

I didnt notice Luke Voltin on any of the rosters, he was suppose to return to the Vipers this season.  Any word on him?

Four scrimmages will be held tomorrow at 9am, 11:15am, 4pm & 6:15pm

Here are a few players who I thought stood out,

Riley Brandt scored once in the third, caught my eye tonight.  I thought looked pretty good out there, played hard, was carrying and moving the puck alot, had a few looks at the net.

Riley Thorpe was another player on Team Green who I liked.  Very quick, moved the puck well.

Liam Finlay was showing off his wheels and speed.  The fellow next to me was telling me he was by far the best player on Team green in the first two periods.

Tyler Shugrue was forced into making some good saves through out the final period.  Made two real big saves wasnt getting alot of help from his defence I thought played well even though gave up three goals.

Joe Sacco caught my attention, quick, moves the puck well, smooth skater.
