3rd & Final Day Report From Vipers Training Camp:

I attended the final day of Vipers Training Camp this morning.  The first game saw Team Black defeat Team Blue 5-2 and in the second and final scrimmage of Training Camp Team White defeated Team Green 6-5 in a Shoot-Out.

In the first game this morning Team Blue jumped out to a 2-0 lead and was up 2-1 after the 1st.  Team Black with three goals in the 2nd frame grabbed their first lead of the morning had a 4-2 lead heading into the third would come away with a 5-2 victory.

Here is a look at the players that I thought stood out,

Team Black:

Andrew Shortridge come in halfway through the 2nd period didnt allow a single goal is really giving Jarrod Schamerhorn a good run for the Vipers #1 job.  Shortridge didnt have to stand on his head but made the routine saves when called apon.  This kid is a bigger kid that covers alot of the net, dosnt give up those second or third opportunities has looked solid in goal all weekend.

Mitchell Oliver impressed me for the second straight day.  I thought he played well on the backend in the offensive zone.  Was getting pucks to the net, made some smart plays with the puck and looks like he has alot more confidence.

Team Blue:

Boston Bilous I thought played very well this morning.  Really sees the play develope, quick on his feet, dosnt scramble around in the crease.  Looks very calm between the pipes.

Steven Jandric played very well today, I thought looked good through out the game.  One player that stood out more then the others.

Joey Cipollone showed signs of talent, had some nice moves in and around the net.

Linden Hora has impressed me this weekend, played hard and showed alot of hustle again today.  Looks like hes bulked up and gained some speed.  Had a good game this morning.

In the second and final morning game of the day saw Team White pick up their first win of Training Camp on the last day of Camp.  Team White would open the scoring before Team Green replied with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead after the 1st.  Team Green would take a 4-3 lead into the 3rd before Team White with two quick goals late in the 3rd tied the game forcing the Shoot-Out.  Brett Stapley with a highlight reel goal was the lone goal scored in the SO was the game winner.

Here are the players that I thought stood out,

Bo Pellah again looked good with the puck, a smooth skater can really move the puck in a hurry.  A slick puck moving d-man likes to dangle alot.

Joe Sacco with a goal has impressed me all Camp and again this morning.

Brett Stapley & Ryan Cooper had flashes through out the scrimmage.  Both I thought played well.

Team Green:

Riley Brandt with a goal was working-playing hard, showed alot of hustle through out the game.

Jimmy Lambert who has showed signs he can skate, and show off some talent looked good.

Nicholas Rasovic returning for a second season with Vernon looked good today.  I liked his work ethic this morning, was going hard into the corners, mucking and grinding, didnt stop competing.

Chase Tippett is another try out who has impressed me this weekend.  This kid can fly, has some wheels, can move the puck and nice hands.

Liam Finlay one of the hardest working Vipers last season, didnt stop moving-skating today.  A real buzzsaw today.  Always trying to be creative and make plays.

Game Notes:

Former Vipers Bryce Kakoske & Danny Todosychuk were the referees-linesmen in both scrimmages this morning.

Former Vernon Lakers forward Spencer Ward was in attendance today.

Todays newspaper said cuts will be made after today's scrimmages before tonight's Blue-White inter-squad game.
