Sorry new Bob. Cooke is really taking advantage of the new rules. There will be 10 Canadians on this team soon. Absolutely disgraceful. Who is the BCHL trying to compete with? Soon the number of Canadians will be reduced and it will be a euro league based out of BC. Hopefully Cooke helps those players impacted by the sept 30 date find a new home as more cuts or trades need to be made.

In the end in junior hockey all that matters is winning. If these imports can help the team win thats great but that remains to be seen, while at the same time the number of Canadian kids is reduced. Unfortunate effect of the upheaval in the NCAA and all the junior hockey leagues. I understand the BCHL feels it needs to open itself up to more Euros and Americans to be competetive but unfortunately it will be at the expense of developing local and other Canadian kids as in the past.

All last season this blog was filled with disappointment in losing. And Cooke is trying to build a winning team and fans are still not happy from where the players are coming from. Seems like there is no pleasing anyone on this blog.

I’m in favour of the new players if it gets us a winning team. No matter your origin of birth, if you’re good enough to help us win, welcome to the team!

Hey Bob, Since there is already someone on here with the username Bob and has been a regular on here, can you please change your name so we don't have two Bob's. Thanks

This kid has some size, put up decent numbers the past two seasons playing for U17 and U20 teams. It shows he was listed with the Calgary Hitmen, but hasn't played a game this year. I wonder what happened? Curious to see what he will bring to the Vipers.

The Vipers have been one of the busiest teams this season. With all the trades/moves, this is starting to look a lot like last season. I kind of expected this. Matt Cooke wants to bring in the players he wants and put his stamp on the team. With Matt Cooke hired in late July, the team had already been picked from previous management. You will see Matt Cooke and the Vipers recruit this year and put together a Matt Cooke team for next season.

Here are the moves the Vipers have made since the start of the regular season.

Players gone

Sam Allaby
Deacon Drummond
Grayson Cohen
Ben Edwards
Nathaniel Harvey
Antoine Demers
Jett Quaschnick

Players signed/acquired

Brayden Pankey
Oscar Bjork
Tyler Chiovetti
Dome Szongoth
Taylor Curtis
Sebastian Bradshaw
Dmitrii Kubantsev
Andrei Gandurov
Teodor Vapenik

Sam Allaby never played a game with the vipers so why put him on the list

Because it’s my blog and I can

Maybe these new players can help the Vipers get some wins

Wondering if Allaby was a roster input error because, the BCHL list him as a trade from Cranbrook to Langley!

This team has been picked by cooke. There were very few returnees. The previous coaches did not pick any of these kids.
I dont like what has been going on. Not bringing in anyone that appears any better than who are already here. Canadian kids are low priority and not sure why.

Due to internet trolls and scammers recently attacking my blog within the past few weeks, you will now need a google account to post comments. Thank you for your understanding.

I know someone that talked with Matt Cooke and he said the team was already picked when he was hired. He brought a few kids into training camp but otherwise this team was recruited/picked by last years management/coaching staff.

Cooke himself told me that most of the players who attended the initial camp were brought in by John Glenn

The stats say he is on the roster f the Calgary Hitmen.  They must have cut him.
